Hi guys,

After 10 years in US, we are moving back to India. I have taken a transfer within Capgemini and will be based in Bengaluru. We are leaving June beginning...

I had been to Bengaluru a few weeks back and have enrolled the kids in a school...am scouting apartments right now.

I will share my contact details as soon as I have a cell/land line.

Cheers,
Raja

Raja,

Tough decision to relocate! I went thru the same after being 8+ years abroad. But believe me its the right time to jump into India's vibrant shining economy.

Somebody said you fall in love with the US in the first five minutes and then spend the next five years discovering what's wrong with it. With India, you hate it the first five minutes and spend the next five years discovering what's good about it.

Nothing better than being back home!Njoy!

Cheers...Rajesh

Thanks Rajesh.

Our stay in US was excellent and our decision to move back had nothing to do with anything being wrong with US....both US  and India (for that matter any country) have their pros and cons. I guess the decision to live in any country depends on what cons an individual is willing to live with.

We wanted to always go back and things lined up pretty well for us to take the decision now...

See you all soon,

Cheers

Hi Guys ,
Good to hear these relocation experiences . Am sure everyone staying outside India has this thought at some corner of their mind & is waiting for the right time.
I am sailing through same dilemma so wanted to find answers to below questions from  those who has attempted to relocate,
  • How does Kids (primary school ) handle the transition? Do they get settled well especially with climatic conditions, schooling std, Friends, etc...
  • Does the school helps in any way to settle kids faster ? Is IB/International school the only choice for NRI's.Has anyone tried normal schooling std?
  • Don't they feel the pressure of performance & competition in early ages?Do they nag for missing the old environment's or pushing them out of their comfort zone ?
  • Does it really serve the purpose of relocation & one sees the real benefits ?

cheers,

Raj

I suggest you go to www.r2iclubforums.com.....this is a site for people considering/planning/in the process and experiences of relocating back to India.

What I found and have also heard from quite a few friends of mine who relocated in the past 2 years is that kids are the most resilient during any change....they adapt the quickest....however, they should have the right support from their parents (no whining/getting frustrated in front of them)....they typically adjust in a couple of months time.

The biggest challenge is for the parents themselves.....due to the baggage we carry about "experience" abroad...so as long the parents adjust, things work out.

I will update you all as I experience this first hand....

cheers,
Raja
