At Hemera's Bench, we are passionate about transforming the frozen food aisle in America into a culinary wonderland that tantalizes taste buds, nourishes bodies, and inspires imaginations. I was raised by a working mother who showed me the value of meal prepping, portioning and freezing food as a practical and delicious option for busy people who still want to enjoy high-quality meals.

Our mission is to reimagine frozen food as a gourmet-quality option that enriches the lives of busy working mothers and anyone seeking convenient meals that spark joy and delight. We craft our unique flavor combinations with a global touch that celebrates creativity and diversity, drawing on my multicultural upbringing in Taiwan, Singapore, and New Zealand.

I strongly believe that frozen food can be a culinary masterpiece that awakens the senses, evokes memories, and transports you to faraway places. We source our ingredients locally and challenge your taste buds with flavor combinations that leave you wanting more.

We want to make the frozen food aisle an aspirational destination that inspires and delights us all. Whether you are a foodie, a busy working mom, or someone who loves good food, Hemera's Bench has something for you. Join us on our journey to transform the frozen food aisle and create a world where convenience meets culinary excellence.

Whether daughter or sister, Hemera was always closely linked with Nyx, their heavenly movements used to explain the cycle of day into night to the ancients. They moved in counterpoint to one another, Nyx retreating from the sky as Hemera appeared. Hesiod described them drawing near and passing one another, one entering a house while the other departed to pass over the earth, the house never holding them both inside.

In all ancient sources, Hemera was paired with Aether (Light), both her brother and consort. Sources differ, however, when it comes to their children. According to one version Hemera and Aether bore the Titans Gaia (Earth), Uranus (Sky) and Thalassa (Sea), while another version cited only Thalassa as the child of Hemera and Aether. Yet another claimed Uranus as their only child.

In cooperation with Decibel mag, we proudly unveil AARA's new track 'Strepitus Mundi' of their forthcoming album "Triade II: Hemera". The Swiss Black Metal band finds the perfect balance between haunting guitar melodies and aggressive riffing, while sinister screams erupt from the background. The hypnotizing flow creates an eerie and uncanny atmosphere, thus drawing the listener inexorably into the cosmos of Charles Robert Maturin's Gothic novel "Melmoth The Wanderer".

I think that good Black Metal brings a certain honesty to human existence. These feelings are a reality in each of us, but usually they find no place in public and interpersonal exchanges. Black Metal actually celebrates the weaknesses, suffering and cruelty of existence in a way that you can draw strength from it."

"Triade II: Hemera" will be released on CD, vinyl and digitally on May 13th. Pre-orders for all physical formats and high-quality merch are possible via our EU, US and Bandcamp shops.

The Greek goddess Hemera was one of the Protogenoi, i.e. a primordial deity. She represented the personification of the day/daylight. She was one of the daughters of Erebus and Nyx and, as such, the sister of Aether (the Atmosphere), whom she later married.

Her Roman name was Dies (Day). Pseudo-Hyginus says she was a daughter of Chaos and a sister of Nox (Night), not her daughter.

Nyx would bring night on earth, by drawing a veil of darkness between the light of the upper atmosphere and the normal air that people on Earth breathed. In the morning, Hemera would come and draw it back, dispersing the darkness and allowing light to reach the earth. (In the early cosmogony, light and darkness were divine substances and they were not caused by the presence or absence of the sun).

Both goddess Hemera and Nyx lived in Tartarus, but they only briefly met twice a day, when one of them was leaving, while the other one was coming back home. So, while one of them was travelling above the earth, the other one was at home, waiting for her turn.

Later she was identified with Eos, and Pausanias describes images of Eos, but he mistakenly identifies her as Hemera. Philostratus mentions the statue of Memnon, in Aethiopia, which would greet Hemera, his mother, in the morning, and would mourn her departure in the evening. In fact, Memnon was the son of Eos, so Philostratus thought the two goddesses were one and the same.

Philostratus describes a painting representing the fall of Phaeton, Helios' son. He wanted to drive his father's chariot, but he couldn't maintain a steady grip and he fell. The whole world plunged into darkness, because Nyx came and drove goddess Hemera (the light) away.
