The restored version includes parts of the original cut

found in Buenos Aires in 2008 and scenes from the film

found in New Zealand in 2005.

Metropolis is a spectacular German expressionist

futurist dystopia, set in 2026. Industrialisation and

mass-production are themes, along with Lang's

take on fascism, communism and American modernity.

The screenplay by Fritz Lang's wife Thea von Harbou

is based on her 1926 novel Metropolis.
