In vsmStudio, you will need GPIOs to configure tallies. GPIs are needed for the physical mixer tally and, in exchange, GPOs for the corresponding tally logic.
This chapter covers the setup of tally GPIOs and the resulting tally options.

Green Tally GPOs

For emergency purposes, an Emergency GPO with the number 10,000 should also be created. This GPO can be activated through an emergency panel in the event of a mixer failure. Tally will then be sent from a defined target, for example a program target.

Next, set the GPO logic: to do so, turn off the Emergency GPO and activate the corresponding GPI. Therefore, if the Emergency GPO is not active while the GPI Red Tally Mixer In is active, the Calculated Red Tally Mixer In GPO will be activated.

Dragging GPOs onto signals in the master matrix

If a GPO is dragged onto a target in the matrix, a colored sun is displayed next to the signal. It indicates that the target receives tally. An arrow in the GPO logic shows that this GPO sends tally to this target. If a target should only receive Green Tally, the tally color can be defined in the GPO logic through the small arrow beside the sun.

Tally display in the Current view of the master matrix

In the Current view of the master matrix, active tally is shown through small lamps on the relevant signal paths. The sources switched onto that target will also receive tally. This is again indicated by a small lamp. If this source is switched to additional targets, they will also receive tally. Passed-through tally that is inactive is indicated at the target with a half-filled circle.

To forward a tally to an external device, for example a CCU, an additional GPO must be created. Drag and drop the relevant signal into that GPO. The signal will now trigger the GPO. If this signal receives tally, the GPO becomes active and the CCU, or an arbitrary external device, receives tally.

Logic for tally forwarding to an external device

Tally colour as well as Silence, Non-Silence, and Use Effective Tally can be adjusted through the small arrow beside the lamp. Activate Use Effective Tally to prevent the tally's self-preservation.

Assigning GPOs to a control panel

Tally can also be forwarded to third party devices via physical GPOs. To do so, place GPOs onto a control panel and assign the function Assign Tally to GPO to it.

Assigning tally

Configure the buttons so that they jump to the sources. There, the appropriate source is selected, and the GPO that forwards the tally physically to the relevant third party device becomes active. In this configuration, the tally colour can be selected through the tally symbol on the control button in the panel edit.

To configure tally for a target manually, for example for an EVS server while it is recording, only one GPO must be dragged onto the relevant target. The tally colour can be set in the GPO. The GPO can only be activated at the push of a button or through a logic.

Communication Ports

Double left-click on the connection will open the Port Settings. Under Attributes you can manipulate the brightness of a tally text between three states. 0 for no brightness, 1 for 1/7 of brightness, 2 for 1/2 of brightness and 3 for full brightness.

A source can also function as tally trigger. To set it up, the GPO must be dragged onto the relevant source. If the GPO becomes active, a small lamp is displayed at the source in the current view of the master matrix (see Current View)

For Warehouse Management, you can enable tally scanning for each of the supported inbound, inventory, and outbound processes. If you apply the rule to the PO, TO, or Inbound shipment receiving process, you can also select the option to tally scan different item types continuously.

Once you purchase TallyPrime, you need to activate your license to enjoy the full benefits of this new and improved product. Going forward, TallyPrime will help you easily manage other licensing activities such as license surrender, reactivation, configuration, and so on.

To manage licenses, TallyPrime has the concept of site licensing. A site refers to a single license of TallyPrime, TallyPrime Developer, or TallyPrime Server that has been installed and activated. You have the flexibility to choose between two types of site licenses: single-site and multi-site.

Tally creates an account using the e-mail ID provided during license activation. You can use this account for all future communication and licensing activities, such as configuring, reactivating, surrendering, and updating. The license is valid for a lifetime. However, to receive the latest product updates, you have to renew TSS once a year.

Once you purchase TallyPrime, you need to activate your license to enjoy the full benefits of this new and improved product. If you have more than one license installed and activated under your Tally.NET account, then it will be referred to as multi-site licensing.

In multi-site licensing, more than one license of TallyPrime, TallyPrime Developer, or TallyPrime Server linked to a single account ID are activated on different computers or locations. For the sake of convenience, you can provide a unique identification for each site, which will be termed as a Site ID. You can identify a multi-site account is using a unique Account ID.

Let us assume that your business has branch offices in many locations, and single and multi-user licenses are activated across these locations. Then you can create a multi-site account and manage all the licenses from one place. You can add multiple licenses of TallyPrime, TallyPrime Developer, or TallyPrime Server, which are activated in different locations.

After purchasing TallyPrime, your first step should be to activate the license, so that you can avail the full benefits of the product. After activation, a Tally.NET account will be created, which you can use for all your licensing needs.

When there are multiple users in the network, you need to connect your client computers to the Tally Gateway Server to access the license. Tally Gateway Server is a Windows service that is required to access a licensed version of your Tally product. You can access the license via LAN by connecting your computer to the Tally Gateway Server where the license is active.

The Account/Site Administrator can configure or surrender a site belonging to an account. The configuration can be set for each site by the Account/Site administrator. Further, the Account administrator can allow or deny the Site administrator or user from making any changes to the configuration set locally.

In the Licensing and Configuration screen, you can view the details such as the Total Number of Sites, the Number of Active Sites, Site Pending for Confirmation, Number of Sites Not Used, and Number of Sites Surrendered.

If you want to use your TallyPrime license on another computer, then you have to surrender the license from the existing computer. You can surrender the license directly from the applications, or through the Tally website.

If you want to use your TallyPrime license on another computer, then you have to surrender the license and reactivate it on the required computer. However, you will need to reactivate the license on the same computer, if your license has gone into Educational Mode.

If you want to use your TallyPrime license on another server computer, then you have to reactivate it on the required computer. However, reactivation can also be done on the same server computer, if your license has gone into Educational Mode. In case your client computer has gone into Educational mode, then you need to configure the license according to the server computer.

Additionally, you can reactivate the license under the following scenarios:

At any time, you can find about your product mode and the associated Licensing actions that you can perform from Manage License Report. You can navigate to Manage License Report by clicking the product identity that can be found on the top left corner of your Tally Application.

Each month we send out complete ADS-B receiver kits that include an ADS-B receiver, antennas, and all necessary cabling to qualified hosts. You can apply to host one of our receivers or easily build your own. The dozens of new Flightradar24-supplied receiver kits and the hundreds of home-built receivers activated in December, combined with over 20,000 existing receivers, helped us track 5 million flights.

New receiver kits are sent to locations that will expand our coverage or most improve existing MLAT coverage. In places like Cook Islands, Egypt, and Cocos (Keeling) Islands new receivers are helping track more ADS-B equipped flights, while new receivers in the United States, New Zealand, Nepal, and Iran are increasing our MLAT coverage.

Have a Raspberry Pi sitting around collecting dust or looking to get started with tracking flights with a quick project? Build your own receiver to help us increase ADS-B and MLAT coverage in your area. Our simple guide walks you through the steps from getting the parts you need to setting up your receiver. The tally lamp, also referred to as a tally light, is a feature unique to monitors used in broadcast studios. It is meant to used as an indicator for if the studio is live "on air" by being hooked in a daisy chained configuration to a master controller. Some sets also use this tally light to indicate an error has occurred, sometimes being able to display multiple colors such as green, amber, and red.

Using a broadcast monitor at home, you are unlikely to ever use the tally light "on air" feature. However, you can use a jumper wire to connect two pins on the remote port to turn the tally light on. Alternatively, you can make a small dongle with a switch on it to be able to turn the tally light on or off at will.

Note that a previous owner may have changed the pin assignments in the service menu of the set, so check yours first. For Sony BVMs, this is generally under SET UP > REMOTE > Remote 2 Config > Pin #.
