Always make sure to read the license for each font you use. Most of the fonts in the collection use the SIL Open Font License, v1.1. Some fonts use the Apache 2 license. The Ubuntu fonts use the Ubuntu Font License v1.0.
If you have any suggestions or ideas to improve the performance of font loading or expand the existing library, feel free to star and contribute to this repository. You can share your suggestions or ideas by creating an issue.
I just found out that there is no generator for Arabic fonts, because of the issue of connecting the letters... Does that mean that the only choice I have is to get it from fonts.com? Does anyone know of a place were I can get good quality arabic fonts to use for my website?
What do you mean with Arabic fonts? Most "normal" fonts we use every day will work just fine in CSS. Do make sure to set the RTL properties though, where needed. After all, you don't want Arabic people to read left-to-right, do you? :-)
You could always find a free font from somewhere. I'm sure a quick google search would yield excellent results. If your talking about getting them to work, you'll need to look into UTF-8 encoding so that all the characters display correctly.

So here's where I' facing some difficulties. I'm trying to build an English and Arabic store. So far I have managed to do that smoothly plus change the layout to RTL. The problem is that the Arabic text does not look that good on the Helvetica (default Debut theme font). and if I try to change it, it changes for both the english and arabic stores. I have tried to dig in the code and added the specific code to the (theme.css.liquid) file:
Hello! I am new to shopify and I haven't yet finished my shop. I am just learning it and I have the same problem with the greek fonts. Open sans usually can show them properly. I have set as a default, the english characters change but the greek are set to Arial.
I tried the above solution unfortunately with no success.

I also tried that solution, I can see that it works in the web browser playing with the inspector, but it does not work on my Android Device (Galaxy Nexus). I also tried to host it on a webserver to check if it could be a problem with finding the resource file on the android device, I can see the font is loaded (takes a second to show the text) but the font does not work eventually (missing non latin characters).
I understand better the issue. Actually this is not the font that cannot load properly, but the unicode characters that do not display, whathever font we use. To check that I loaded a web symbols font and it worked well for most of the characters, except those which are not standard latin ones.

Please check your font name with extension into your font folder. font name and extension should be same into your src: url. check your name with uppercase or not.
