However it is possible to put an addition into /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions and it can then freely inject into system processes. This technique was discovered and described by SIMBL developers. The problem is that /System/Library/ScriptingAdditions is a system folder protected by SIP. You can manipulate it only with SIP fully disabled or from within Recovery OS.

I disabled debug, sf and nvram (tested with status), tried sudo nvram boot-args="-arm64e_preview_abi" also the suggestion here, and I see TF in privacy/automation. I can open TF preferences but disabling any setting helps, enabling color labels causes a crash and I can only solve it disabling color labels from terminal.

@strafer If you run the included TotalFinder diagnostics script at /Applications/TotalFinder.app/Contents/Resources/diagnose-totalfinder.sh in a Terminal session, it will generate a totalfinder-diagnostics.tar.gz file on your Desktop that includes (among other things) any recent Finder crash logs that you can send to me via email.

You can then link this code to some hotkey (for example with Keyboard Maestro). Make sure that the Finder window is not linked to any particular desktop/space, i.e., set the option "all spaces" for the window. This should make sure that the same Finder window pops up on any desktop/space.

TotalFinder is an application on Mac that might be difficult to be removed for some general PC users. To uninstall TotalFinder effectively without getting additional trouble or problem, you can refer to the following instructions with images and video tutorials.

Do you get a conflict issue between the program and SIP on Mac? The TotalFinder application has a technical problem that contains a conflict issue with SIP, which is a security subsystem introduced in macOS 10.11 (EI Captian). And it will prevent TotalFinder from altering Finder. So people who want to install and use TotalFinder have to disable the SIP on the Mac, which is also regarded as a dangerous action on the computer for many people (they suspect that it would affect the security of their devices) . Therefore, the bug of this program itself becomes a big reason for people to remove it from the Mac.

In order to fix the conflict issue with SIP, when you decide to remove TotalFinder, please remember that all of its files and configurations should be cleaned out from the computer. If you take this manual way to conduct the removal, please make sure all of those files left behind will be erased by yourself.

Every week we post a new interview with someone about what software they use on their Mac, iPhone, or iPad. We do these interviews because not only are they fun, but a glimpse into what tools someone uses and how they use those tools can spark our imagination and give us an idea or insight into how we can do things better.

At the university, half of my students use Windows and the other half macOS. Microsoft Word is a standard, so I purchased Microsoft Office 2011 a few years ago and still use it on a regular basis. Nevertheless, I prefer using Nisus Writer Pro to write novels. I also use a few dictionaries such as Antidote Druide, the Collins-Robert French-English, and Le Grand Robert. PDFpenPro is la crème de la crème with powerful features, and TextExpander saves me a great deal of time.

Pretty much the same apps are found in my iPhone, my iPad, and my Mac. I like Fantastical, and Overcast keeps me entertained with podcasts. Here in Taiwan and Japan, LINE is THE app used to communicate on regular basics.

TotalFinder X is a battery locator designed for universal external asset tracking. The combination of a high-capacity battery and ultra-sensitive solar panel offers an almost maintenance-free long-term monitoring solution. TotalFinder X is also available in a version with Bluetooth 5.0 for the possibility of connecting external sensors.

Dual mode allows you to view two tabs side-by-side if you ever want to view them simultaneously. Simply press CMD+U or double click a tab and it will toggle dual mode with the tab to the right of it. The hotkey to toggle dual mode can be configured to something different.

TotalFinder is currently working on the ability to choose Safari-like tabs (for those who hate the Chrome-like tabs), cut & paste (another major feature missing in Finder), and making Finder communicate properly with Terminal.

You can open a new tab with the keyboard shortcut Command+T and close one with Command+W, which is identical to how tabs work in the Chrome browser. If you want, you can still open an entirely new TotalFinder window with Command+N as usual.

Allow Path Copying from Context Menus allows you to do exactly what it says it does, with an added perk. Not only does it let you copy the original Unix path to the file, it also re-parses the file path into the format required for other media. For example, copying the path of the file /test.txt will give me these results for each of the available five options:

Recently I switched to a new laptop and had to set it up to my likings. (This comic describes my setup pretty accurately.) My setup includes a bunch of small apps I found over the years. It seems that most people are not aware of these, so I decided to share a list.All of them are free (with the exception of TotalFinder), and if you like them, consider donating to authors.

Why did you decide to create TotalFinder?
My background is a Windows power user, and I used to use dual-panel file managers like Total Commander or Servant Salamander. After switching to Mac, I realized I needed to make a bold choice: use a heavy-duty Finder replacement like PathFinder, ForkLift or DiskOrder, or learn to live with Finder and its shortcomings. At that time, I decided to stay with Finder mainly for three reasons:

1. Many other apps simply expect Finder to be available and interact with it by default;
2. I wanted to shift my workflows more towards command-line anyway;
3. Finder is not that bad and I had hopes for improvements in upcoming OS revisions.

The backside of the unit contains strong industrial magnets for attachment to metal surfaces. In combination with a robust metal holder that can be purchased with the unit (see accessories), it makes it almost impossible to remove the device from the monitored object.

An example: if your pet's Total is 122, and they roll around and cackle at a wild pet, then the wild pet's total must be less than 22. It is possible to pinpoint a wild pet's exact total without ever catching it by bringing out multiple pets.

This utility is a plugin for Finder, the default file manager for Mac that provides you with some useful extra features. TotalFinder supports dual-panel mode and multi-tab feature, comes with simple to configure settings, and runs quietly in the background without slowing down the performance of your computer.

The program might prove to be of good use to people who work with multiple Finder screens and require an easy way to manage their windows. Its multi-tab feature helps them handle files between screens and easily drag-and-drop documents to new destination folders. These tabs look a lot like the ones you see in Google Chrome, a popular Web browser.
