Hey there.
So a year back, I tried fortnite on intel iris xe. So practically speaking, the game has 3 runways,
Performance mode
Dx11
Dx12
DX11 was extremely stuttery. Performance mode on the other hand could give 120 fps straight while dx12 could give 70 fps and worked decent. Pretty happy with it.
2 months later, stuff went bad.
Performance mode was massacred. It wouldn't render properly, and there were stutters EVERYWHERE. Point your camera at the ground, and no problem, with fps going to whopping 200s. Point somewhere above or just play the game normally, fps starts going like: 200 45 32 42 12 11 10 35, and so on. Made a post about this and they told it'd get fixed (didn't get fixed after a year although gotta admit, there's definitely an improvement. However still unplayable). Played dx12 meanwhile and started loving it a lot more than performance mode.
Then some months back, epic games, the creator of Fortnite pushed the game from unreal engine 5 to unreal engine 5.1. And this is where it goes out of hand.
UE 5 can run dx12 ONLY on graphics cards with an above shader model 6 and unfortunately iris xe has shader model 5.1. This kind of meant that the game itself would not allow players to run the pc on dx12, limiting us to dx11 and performance mode. As I said before, dx11 is unplayable and performance mode, well, improved but unplayable.
@Xillvion posted about this and finally told it'd get fixed.
Still not fixed.
It'd be cool if you could do something about this since if all future games started using ue5.1>= intel iris xe is going to have to go downhill. The game is entirely unplayable. Just try it.
This issue is currently being investigated based on the feedback and troubleshooting captured on your previous thread with the title Insane stuttering in fortnite performance mode. Given the recent update that you mentioned in which Fortnite was upgraded to only use Unreal Engine 5, I will check internally and see if there is an update regarding this issue. I will post back once I have more information for you.
Thanks a lot, will be looking forward to your response. BTW fortnite has been upgraded to only use unreal engine 5.1 which means that dx12 cannot be run since ue 5.1 goes with only graphics cards with shader model 6 and above.
Thank you for your patience. In regards to this issue, our driver developer team is still investigating the problem, at the moment we cannot provide a specific time for a fix to come out, however, once released it will be noted in the driver release notes.
Since there are no further questions, we will close this thread. In case you want to get an update on the issue you can reference the Bug ID number provide in my previous. Feel free to open a new thread in case you need further assistance.

Hi ive recently upgraded from a gtx 1660 super 6gb to the intel arc a750. I only play one main game which is fortnite and I get very very poor performance to 120 fps (low setting performance mode) in some scenes where i usually had 250 with my other grafics card. Not only that, I get so many stutters when im playing causing the game to be unplayable. Ive tried everything and checked if I have everything coorect like the Risize bar one or the latest drivers and nothing still is having a very poor performnace. I have completely ruined my gaming experience due to this isue and i currently cant i even play.
I would like to get more information about your system configuration because slow performance and stuttering may have different causes. Please run the Intel SSU tool ( -system-support-utility-for-windows.html?v=t) and share the results with me. This can help me compare with the data we have available for benchmarking.
Hi, I have tried with direx 12. With direx 12 I get less fps than I used to get with my other grafis card and performance mose. I need a way to still use the (Performance mode and get good fps without any lag spikes or low av fps).
We appreciate your feedback and we apologize for any inconvenience that this might have caused you. Please be informed that we are currently investigating this issue. To help us with the situation, we would like to confirm and request the following:
I hope you are doing well. Since we have not heard any feedback regarding our previous post, we will close this inquiry now. If you need further assistance, please submit a new question as this thread will no longer be monitored.
Hello, i've got a problem which i can't solve. So i play on Lenovo Intel HD Graphics630, i5-7400T. The game was never smooth but i had been able to play it, until the recent fortnite uptade. I don't know if it has anything to do with it because i hadn't played like 2 days prior to the uptade but basically since 18th of may my game has been crashing, i tried everything, nothing works and i have no idea what might be the reason. Any help?
It doesn't let me install those drivers, im sending the picture below
But it's not gonna change anything even if I could install those, i am afraid. I was recording but it automatically stopped when it crashed so al I can send is the crash picture. I am having the same settings
in the game, so it's not settings; fault, it has be to the newest update. Unfortunately I can't play fortnite
Hi, so I was playing fortnite, and the game recently stopped working for me. An error message popped up stating that my graphics drivers had known issues and that I should update to the latest one. When I go to the Intel page to update my drivers, it states that there's no update available.
It's recommending that I update to 27.20.100.8935, but I can't find that download on the website. When I ignore the message, the game proceeds to load, freeze, and then the application hangs. Any help would be welcome, I'm not great with computers so this is all very confusing to me.
First of all, it is recommended that you stick with the graphics driver packages provided by your laptop manufacturer. This is because the laptop manufacturers will often modify the driver to support certain special features of the laptop (hot keys, focus/brightness controls, etc.). Loading a newer, Intel-generic driver could break these special features. If you need a newer driver release, it is thus best to ask your laptop manufacturer for a newer version that has their modifications.
If you do not care about these special features and want to get the absolute latest drivers available, you can download these by opening and clicking on Graphics. The top entry in the list produced is usually for the latest available driver package. Click on its View Details button and you should see the link(s) for downloading the package. I suggest you make sure you read its Release Notes before committing to a package.
when i play battle royale the game runs "pretty well" like 30 to 70 fps,but when i play lego the game at 10 minutes playing just crash, something like this happens in the festival mode too, when i put a song and play in the introduction the game just freeze and crash,i reed some forums from other people with the same processor and got the same bug.
i tried lowering the graphics to the minimum and lowering the resolution and still crashing.
I want a solution cause i want to play lego fortnite with my friends
specifications
I have the same problem and the same processor a card graphic that you have
I talked with epic games support and they didn't help me but I still searching for a solution for it.
If found how to solve it please tell me how .Also if I found it I'll gonna tell you
Thanks for the confirmation. Based on your issue, I recommend you try the graphics drivers from Lenovo and try the latest BIOS from their website. Bear in mind that you may need to get in contact with Lenovo for installation instructions.
Thanks for your response. If you have your driver and BIOS up to date and you even reinstalled Fornite, my last recommendation is to check the official Epic Games troubleshooting steps. This may help you with your problems with Lego and Festival mode, however, if the issue persists, the last option would be to get in contact with Epic Games to confirm if this is a known issue on their side and if they have additional steps for this issue.
You should log your memory usage in your OS and match the performance report to any issues your game log and OS log reports. Windows performance monitor (perfmon) might do the job. Without knowing for sure what is going on every change you make is more likely to break more than fix it.
EDIT: After some more attempts with some minor changes I noticed that each time it failed the shader progress bar was sometimes slightly further along, and after a few more stalls and 2 complete PC freezes it eventually made it all the way to game start menu. I I think this also occurred when trying the other games I mentioned but because there shader compiling was faster overall it didnt take many attempts.
