How does one set the destination group and address from the command line? Without these options it is not very useful as it appears to just randomly pick the group and address based on the previous menu option used last.
If you can tell me how to do this or even make a patch to do this it would be fantastic. Our company would even possibly pay for this feature to be implemented as we have about 800 ROCs that all have different group, address, ip address and having a command line would greatly improve our productivity.
Also do you have any source code or library functions we could look at to give us some more control over what we can do with the ROCs? Stuff like being able to do a config download and select certain options (eg tick/untick checkboxes in the download screen), read/write softpoints without them being available in the opcode table etc?
Currently out process takes about 1 hour as everything has to be done manually, when you have 1000 ROCs this is a 6+ month job. We are quite competent programmers and if these kind of API functions could be exposed we could write software to do the entire thing within a week.
Regarding additional automation, there are scada software packages available that include ROC protocol drivers that implement quite a few opcodes that you might want to look into. I know they exist, but have never actually spent any time to see what they offer. I wish we had all of your feature requests implemented; but at this time, the best we can offer is the various command line arguments.
Thanks, really appreciate your help. If you do have time to post an update to any other available command line options that would be really appreciated especially anything regarding downloading new .800 files.
I have since found out that via the ROC Driver we can read and write to any TLP within the roc, this coupled with the command line option you have discussed lets us do everything bar download a .800 file automatically which is something we would probably still want to do manually to confirm it worked as expected.
Now it connects correctly, roclink opens up with the ROC connected successfully but it makes no attempt to save the file, I have tried /SAVE C:test.800 also with no help and also tried making /SAVE the first, 2nd, 3rd command passed to roclink as well.
Can you use these command lines to dial out on a modem from your laptop. it would be nice to set up icons on the desktop for the field guys to just click on the icons and it will call over the modem to the roc and connect with the roc and open a particular menu screen so the technician can just verify a few things with the process.
