Iam running Ventura 13.4 on iMac and had problems with Brother printer going off line. I called Apple support and they could not fix the problem. Brother was a waste of time. Here is what I did. I added a new printer using the IP address of the printer. After selecting add printer. Select the globe which is the middle icon in add printer. Type the IP address into Address. Protocol will show as AirPrint. Then name the printer. This solution has been working when I look at my printers and scanners settings I see two printers the Brother printer that is offline and the new printer idle. I named the new printer "Brother IP address printer". My Mac Book Pro running Monterey 12.6.6 has never lost the connection to the printer. Also have downloaded Brother iPrint&scan from App Store.
I am running Sonoma 14.1.1 on a MAC mini, was not able to locate the printer using the method above. Also AirPrint no longer appears to work, but yet it's there?!?!?. Loaded Brother iPrint&Scan, but no joy. Printer does not seem to wake up until having to reconnect it each time it is dormant.
I did not do anything with the driver drop down. After you enter the IP address the driver drop-down automatically propagates to the Brother driver Simply add the printer IP address and rename it. The most difficult part was finding the IP address on my old MFC-J680DW. I had to find "print network settings" in the menu. Yours may be different.
I've attempted to Add the Brother Printer as decrebed, but it is looking to 'Choose a Driver'. The options provided in the drop down do not correspond to anything that relates to the Brother HL-L2395DW printer. Any recommendations?
Dude, thank you so much! I've been unable to print wirelessly from my MBP since I got the printer. I can print wirelessly from my iPhone no problem, but I've never been able to get the laptop to work. I went to the printer, found the option to Print Network Settings to get the IP address, and followed your instructions and seconds later I was printing!
Thank you so much! Had the same issue and tried everything I thought. I purchased a new Brother printer hoping that would take care of the problem. Before I opened the box I did one last search and found your solution. The unopened printer will be returned. Awesome! Thanks again for posting.
@LarryNJr Thank you! Both my Brother and Canon printers were going offline and the only way to print was for me to do a power cycle. Using their IP addresses allowed me to successfully print to both of them. I really appreciate your taking the time to post your solution.
Based on everything I read here, I went through the normal "Add a printer" process, and under "Location" added the IP address I got from the printer. I kept the default software that automatically populated. To my great and pleasant surprise, it worked! Thanks to all for their contributions.
