Thanks mate, all solved although I'm not certain what I did. I ended up in print settings in LR changing to default settings and that worked. For the life of me I really could not find the driver settings that allowed me to set so LR controlled colour not the printer.

Later on, you might even consider ImagePrint 10 software, which takes over the Epson print driver and automatically handles all print settings and color management, in addition to providing superb profiles for virtually all papers. But it costs about the same as your printer.

I looked at it differently. IP 10 cost me roughly half of what it would have cost for custom profiling gear, so I got the profiles without effort, and the rest was a bonus. Plus I never again have to deal with incompatibilities resulting from software changes in the Apple/Adobe/Epson chain. Print settings are automatically optimized and effortless, and viewing is always in soft print mode, which saves time, ink and paper.

ICC output profiles characterize the colour gamut (range) for the combination of printer, ink and paper. By using colour management you can enable the optimum gamut transition from the monitor view (for example AdobeRGB), to the gamut your printer is able to print.

The profiles we provide are RGB profiles for use with your print driver and your graphic application (no RIP-software). All profiles have been verified through test prints.
Hahnemühle provides profiles for professional photo-printers with UV-protected pigment inks for FineArt printing. We try to keep this area up to date and it is continually expanded. Profiles for old printer models and papers can be found in the special archive area.
Mediapackages for Mirage Software you will find here.

If you are unable to achieve the special character printing via ESC/pos then you should try converting your printer type to html or Windows printer (in Sambapos) and altering your printer template to suit.
ESC/Pos mode is different from these type in that it sends the raw code to the printer whereas the otherprinter types will convert the template into an image to send to the printer. This makes ESC/pos faster but you have much more ability to change layout and look with HTML type.
