Global Dalit Social Work Association (GDSWA) is a brain child of social work professionals graduated from Tata Institute of Social Sciences & Nirmala Niketan, Mumbai, Delhi School of Social Work, New Delhi and Loyola College, Chennai.
GDSWA may address the following issues:
o To understand the current global scenario and importance of developing a theoretical frame work and special skills for addressing Dalit issues (We may call this as Dalit Social Work).
o To create a forum to debate, discuss and theorizing Dalit Social Work in dynamic contexts on the basis of inputs, insights and social skills acquired by Dalit social worker, activist and educationists.
o To facilitate Dalit Social Workers to reflect on self and organizational capacity and capabilities in order to inculcate self realization and organizational changes to address the needs of Dalits in the field.
o To mobilize Dalit human and financial resources and make use of them in social and develop sector for the uplift of Dalit masses.
o To publish journals, conduct research and organize seminars & workshop on Dalit Social Work.
The first “Global Dalit Social Workers Meet” will be held on May 9, 2009 at 10.00 a.m. at YUVA Centre Khargar, Mumbai.
The participants from different organizations from different parts of globe will discuss vision and mission, objectives, plan of actions, networking strategies, strategies for career opportunities and development programmes for the members etc.
What are the Benefits?

o Build capacity for DSW and their organizations to compete in a global market situation.
o Develop specific action plans with inputs from experts for Dalit organizations to be more efficient.

o Identify and build network with peer organizations and eminent personalities in social sector.
Similarly, your active participation in the association may benefit hundreds of DSW around the Globe.
Nature of GDSWA
GDSWA is a non-profit organization that aims to mobilize human and financial resources and support to Dalit Social Workers and Dalit Organisations through a large network of "partners" specializing in the area of skill development, capacity building, donor service, financial management, governance, documentation, advocacy and communications. GDSWA is in the process of registration as a society. Presently all financial and administrative formalities are done through “SAPREM”, Mumbai, a partner organization.

You may be part of GDSWA. You may come down for the first GDSWA meet in Mumbai on May 9, 2009. You may send your annual membership fees Rs. 500 / - by DD favouring “SAPREM” payable at Mumbai to SAPREM, Panchashil Building, Opp. Nutan Hindi High School, Durga Mata Mandir Road, Kalyan East, Maharashtra. If you are interested in taking responsibility in organizing or managing at national or state level, you may specify.
Note: No Travel Allowance will be given. If you reach, we may show our hospitality by giving you accommodation and food on the day.
