Dear All,

Devdatta Jagtap, a Dalit boy (belongs to Chamar community) hails from 'Ramabai Colony'  predominantly Dalit urban slum at Ghatkopar, Mumbai. His father is an alcoholic and does not support his family. Her mother does household work and earns Rs. 3000/month and her elder sister (22 years old) who is dropped out after HSC too works and earns Rs. 4000/month and they support Devdatta's education, his other two younger sisters' education (both studying in 10th and 9th) by living in rented house with Devdatta's 78 and 75 years old grandparents.

Devdatta has completed his SSC (10th) in the year 2015-16 and secured 85 percent and has been carrying his dream in his eyes to become an Engineer. Although experiencing mere poverty, being in demotivated environment, he has focused on his studies and has been performing well in academics and hence "Bharat Petroleum" felicitated him with "Shield of Excellence Award" (A letter is attached) at Mumbai.

After SSC he has taken admission for 'Fabtech College of Engineering and Research' at Sangola, Solapur district of Maharashtra for Mechanical Engineering.

A member of Upjeevika Foundation visited 'Ramai Highschool' at Ramabai Colony and found Devadatta's teacher Mr. Mukesh Jadhav is keen in helping him financially. But paying fees and Devdatta's other living expenses is out of his way.

Devdatta has inspired by his school teachers and been aspiring to study further in abroad but lacking financial help to pursue his education. His mother has dream in her eyes to educate Devdatta and make him an Engineer.

For his three years course he needs Rs. 20000/year (and Rs. 16000 for rest two years each) for his hostel, Rs. 15000/year and other academic expenses Rs. 7000/year. Total he needs Rs. 1,18,000 for his three years Engineering diploma.

Hence on behalf of Devadatta and his mother we the members of Upjeevika Foundation would request you all to contribute the sum of Rs. 1,18,000/- for his three years academic expenses and other educational material. (expenses details are attached)

You can talk to him on his Engineering teachers' phone at +91 8408888570 (Bidv Sir) and +91 8408888573 (Kuchekar Madam) to get more details about him.
