Mumbai, India’s most “modern” city, is perhaps best described as a paradox – the centre of opportunity and the locus of poverty. With thousands of people migrating into the city every month, a majority of its population living in urban slums constantly deals with issues such as unemployment, lack of water, poor or complete absence of sewerage and waste management facilities, pollution, and as a result of all these, very poor health conditions.

Niramaya Health Foundation, founded in June 2001, is a non-profit, non-government, community based health services organization, committed to improving the health of these communities. Originally an endeavor of Pratham Mumbai Education Initiative (www.pratham.org) to improve the health of balwadi going children in August 1999, Niramaya has over the years changed its focus from primarily preschool children to one that covers different aspects of community health.
Niramaya’s field areas in Mumbai include Ghatkopar, Vikhroli, Mankhurd, Govandi, Wadala, Dharavi and Kurla on the Central Railway, and Kurar, Poisar and Madh on the Western side. Niramaya is also working with communities in the cities of Pune, Surat and Delhi, and in the states of Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan.
We are looking for a Project Officer for one of our clinics cum resource center located at Govandi-Bainganwadi. The Project Officer will be in-charge of the Niramaya Health Clinic. Responsibilities include:
1. Conducting daily OPD
2. Monitoring daily report writing
3. Team management and distribution of responsibilities amongst the team.
4. Administration -- keeping records about the timings, leaves and finances at the clinic.
5. Conducting health-check-up camps for Niramaya under any projects of Niramaya Health Foundation.
6. Maintaining monthly, quarterly and six monthly reports with deadlines.
7. Planning and implementing events for community mobilization and awareness on marker days as well as on a routine basis in the community.
Criteria: Medical graduates (MBBS and BAMS) with 2 to 3 years of experience preferably in public health and development sector. Knowledge of program implementation will be an asset.
Interested candidates can send their Resumes on amnir...@gmail.com addressed to the Program Manager, with a covering note on how would your experience and and qualification suit the mentioned position. For any other queries please write to niramay...@gmail.com or call at: 022 24161110
