Bluefire Reader is an e-book reader application for Android (superseded by Cloudshelf Reader), iOS[1][2] and Windows[3][4] operating systems that supports white-labelling. It supports the EPUB and PDF formats for digital publications and incorporates facilities for browsing online catalogs, and downloading them directly into the user's personal library. The application features a library that lets users navigate their collection of eBooks, as well as provides a customizable reading experience through configurable font and background color, font size and type, margin size, display brightness, page turn mode, etc. Additionally, the application allows users to import their own books to read them on the go.[citation needed]
Most databases include their own online reader that enables users to read ebooks within the browser screen. Ebooks that are issued as EPUB files, also offer a better reading experience, making it easier to resize text on various screen sizes (including mobile devices) BlueFire Reader is recommended by database providers for mobile devices. (The equivalent, Adobe Digital Editions, is recommended for Desktop/PC devices)
I transferred a DRM protected PDF to my iPad and now I want to open it via Bluefire Reader on the iPad. When trying to open the PDF, I get a message: " Add Account: This application is authorised with the following user accounts: (here goes my user account xxx). This item (i.e. PDF) was originally downloaded with a different user account or Adobe ID. To continue, please add that account". I don't understand why. My Digital Editions has the same Adobe ID as the Bluefire reader.
If you decide not to authorize your reader, you can always do so at a later date. See Section 1.1 Enabling or Disabling Adobe eBooks.
The authorization step is optional. You can still enjoy thousands of non-DRM'd books with Bluefire Reader even if you choose not to authorize the application.
You'll be prompted for your Adobe ID and password. If you don't already have an Adobe ID, tap the red button in the upper right-hand corner to get one. See Section 1.2 Getting and Adobe ID. Once you have entered your Adobe ID, tap Continue to authorize your reader.
Once your reader is authorized, you may purchase and read Adobe eBooks that have been copy-protected with Adobe DRM. You can also transfer many eBooks that have been downloaded to other readers that were authorized with the same Adobe ID as your Bluefire Reader.
When I try to download an ebook using Firefox for Android, instead of the ebook appearing in my Bluefire ereader app, I just get an acsm file in my Downloads folder. If I use Chrome, the ebook appears in my Bluefire ereader app after the ereader app manages the download. What do I need to do in Firefox for Android so that acsm files are passed to my Bluefire ereader app to manage the download ?
Reading Options: Click on the ebook from the catalog, you will be prompted to enter your USML username and password. Select Read Online (Available) and read in the EBL online reader. Select Download, set the checkout period, and choose either ePUB (flowable text) or PDF. The ebook file will be downloaded to Adobe Digital Editions installed on your computer/laptop. Access from your mobile device and download to Bluefire Reader app (avail. for Apple or Android devices).
And it worked. I can read the book, but I don't want to read the book on my little phone screen. So, I transferred the PDF file that Bluefire Reader downloaded to my laptop in hopes that I could open it using a simple PDF reader. Then I double click on the PDF file with a smirk on my face... and it asks me for a password.
I hope you can understand my frustration. All I want to do is read the book that I legally purchased on my laptop so that I can complete my homework and get on with my life. I tried using other eBook readers like Calibre but it requires that I convert my ACSM file to EPUB using Adobe Digital Editions (which doesn't work for me). What other alternatives do I have?
To be sure, this is quite a few steps. However, ADE is not a good reader, and the reading experience using wine even worse. I disagree that removing DRM is not legal; for personal use it's perfectly fine to remove DRM from your purchased ebooks. Publishers, of course, have an interest in reducing and controlling access to the material. EFF has some interesting articles on DMCA, DRM, and copyright. Have fun reading.
The following are instructions on the installation of an eBook reader (Adobe Digital Editions for PC and Mac, and BlueFire Reader for Android and iOS) and adding your eBook to your library. Please note that there are many eBook reader apps beyond Digital Editions and BlueFire.
A: You cannot use Acrobat Reader to read an eBook because Acrobat does not understand Adobe DRM. You will need to install an Adobe DRM-aware reader app and register it with Adobe before you download your first eBook. There are apps available for just about every platform, including Windows, OS X (Apple), Linux, Android and iOS (iPhone/iPad).
Is there anything planned to make available a DRM app available in Supernote? For university students and professors, this could be handy because most library books are not DRM free and require a DRM app to be used such as Adobe Digital Editions or Bluefire reader.
Problem, I'm using an iphone app called bluefire reader to read books and there are some books I have that have the text color set in the book file and the reader can't change it. This leads to setting a dark background and trying (failing) to set light text color so I end up with black text on a dark background.
I contacted the developer of bluefire reader and they said there's nothing they can do. I know that isn't true because Moon+ reader on android can do this, the setting specifically mentions ignoring CSS text stylings. Also I found that iBooks can do this on the iphone but I just can't deal with the crazy huge margins on a little phone screen ibooks imposes.
The proliferation of ebook reader apps has made it even easier for indie authors and publishers to reach new readers and widen their audiences. No longer are people beholden to ebooks that work only on a Kindle or a Nook. In fact, more and more people are able to skip purchasing those devices, which can cost $80-280, by using apps on their existing tablets and smartphones.
Bluefire Reader The Bluefire reader may be the most versatile. It works with both Adobe and Readium as well as a number of other ebook fulfillment systems. It supports Apple iOS, Android, and Windows PCs.
Bluefire apps are designed for discerning readers. Your apps come with a full set of active reading features including bookmarking, highlighting, note taking, dictionary lookup, contextual search, sharing, and more. Our apps also support a rich set of customizable reading and display settings.
To download DRM protected books to a tablet device such as an IPad you will need to use a combination of Adobe Digital Editions and an ereading app, such as Bluefire Reader that is equipped to manage digital rights (view a list of readers that support DRM, i.e. that are"library compatible").
