However, there is an even more obscure way to play as him. The player has to highlight Ryu in Super Street Fighter II Turbo's character select screen for three seconds. Then they do the same for T. Hawk, Guile. Cammy, and Ryu again. Hitting the start button and all three punch buttons then select Akuma.
The playable Akuma in Super Street Fighter II Turbo is much weaker than the boss version of him players can fight. Nonetheless, he's an entire playable character hidden behind an obscure cheat code. He adds an immense amount of variety to the game while being fun to play in his own right.
