In PowerPoint 2007, when in the application, if you go to the Office Button and click on New you then have the option of clicking on Installed Templates – there is a game category and a quizzes and test category (after you choose “more categories”). I can’t remember offhand how to access them in 2003, but you can also find them online:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/templates/results.aspx?qu=jeopardy&av=TPL000
When on the PowerPoint product page (from Microsoft.com) you can search templates for jeopardy.
Be careful though – templates suck up your time – I always get too involved in “playing” with them!! J
Enjoy,
Jennifer

For those of you who haven’t seen them – Microsoft PowerPoint has some cool templates for the Jeopardy game!! We did Twilight Jeopardy for the last book release and hooked up a laptop to our big screen TV – the teens loved it!!
Thanks,
Jennifer

Stephanie,
On behalf of the board of the Learning Round Table, thank you for the kind words of appreciation to LearnRT, T is for Training and Library Learning people who responded to your need. One of our strengths as a round table and learning cohort is freely sharing what we know and helping each other with training and staff development issues. We're also passionate about what we do and we're fun to hang out with, too! Will we see you at ALA or PLA in 2010?
I just had an idea.... would you mind if we quoted you in a membership brochure or in other recruitment materials for the Learning Round Table? The words in your email really sum up what the Learning Round Table is all about. In our recruitment efforts we want to emphasize the personal benefit of membership. A testimonial from a member is a lot more powerful than us just stating what we do.
Thanks again for your follow-up... it's great to get a thank you note from a "satisfied customer"!

Learning Round Table President, 2009-2010
P.S. Our staff of 40 is going to be playing Library Jeopardy at our Holiday Party. We're planning the game to take an hour and we'll divide into 4 teams of 10 each. I'll be happy to send you more information about this if you'd like. I just saw it played at a library in Georgia on their Staff Development Day and everyone had a blast. They had about 25 people and divided into three groups. There were two rounds of play and one Final Jeopardy question. They had 10 categories with 5 questions in each of them.
Oh, another idea is to give out funny made-up awards at the Holiday Party. They could be departmental awards or individual awards. One year at my library lots of people the the Technical Services Dept. had been out sick or injured so that department got the M.A.S.H. Award for the year with all kinds of first aid stuff as their award. You could decorate a toilet plunger and give an award to the department that plunged ahead in the face of a big challenge. You get the idea....

WOW - what great responses everyone and THANK YOU. Just getting the support from all of you has really lifted my spirits. I've been sharing these ideas with the committee and they're getting into it now too! I sure do appreciate the help and warm thoughts. I'll let you all know what we finally go with (though I'm pretty sure the white elephant idea is definitely getting worked in there!)
PS - I was talking about these listserves with my husband last night and he said I was really lucky to have such a great online network of fellow trainer types. I agree!! All of you are giving me more confidence in my work and teaching me so many needed skills. I don't feel like such an island out here knowing you're all out there too. For that - I THANK YOU!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Zimmerman

Hello helpful colleagues. I am on the committee for our holiday party at work this year. We have about 25 people in our office here. Due to the lovely budget situation, our administrator has informed us that we have no additional monies to spend on this party. So, we're looking at asking people to bring in their favorite holiday dessert and do some kind of morale building activities.
The morale here is very low as we were all informed yesterday that our entire Collection Development & Tech Services department (9 of the 25 people in the office) are going to 3/4 time due to budget cuts. This is very sad and a lot of people are hurting. Plus, the member libraries are doing lay offs and all kinds of cuts left and right. I know many of you out there can relate. We were going to do a chip money in and cater lunch type thing, but really don't feel that is appropriate now.
Anyway, I'm looking for some ideas of things 25 grown ups can do to loosen up and have some holiday joy during these tough economic times. We've done a $5 or less gift exchange before and make a game out of it where you read a story and pass the gift left and right, but that's getting a little old. Also, this is not a group of people that socialize well AT ALL. It's very challenging to get this group excited about something or really let loose and laugh and have a good time. Some of us, like myself, are true extroverts, but the majority are very quiet and reserved.
I know there are tons of ice-breaking training type things I could look into and spin it for a holiday party, but before I get to big time research I thought some of you may relate to this situation and have some ideas you could share with the group. I think a lot of us are in this same environment now and could use the ideas. So please share and THANK YOU as always!
Sincerely,
Stephanie Zimmerman
