So, who's on it?

While I blogged my first impressions, I think it's a powerful small
group collaborative tool that I am looking forward to using with my
system.

Anyone planning on adding it as a class or training?

I'm not getting it so much either, but there is a way to send a wave to T is for training - anyone want to try it?  If not, I'll give it a try!

Cheers~

I don't have a wave invite yet, but really curious how it could be used in training.

Invites are go out to folks who I guess signed up awhile ago.  I got mine from someone who had hers - but I have no invites to send (kinda like friend of a friend doesn't get to invite a friend).  Once they loosen it up a bit I suspect we'll all be able to join.  I just wanted to grab it now while we could before someone else started it.

Andy - to answer your questions:

Members so far are me, Marianne Lennox, Bobbi Newman, Laura Botts, Cathay Crosby, Alan Simpson, Jason Fleming, Chester Mealer, Maurice Coleman, Heather Braum, janellerenae, and ellbeecee - I'm happy to add anyone as long as I have their googlewave address.

Still mulling over the possibilities for training - for now might best be used for collaborating amongst trainers.  To me it's like a Wiki, Google Docs, and email rolled all into one.

I'm there but it seems awfully buggy. Only loads about half the time, then the buttons in a Wave may or may not work for me. It might be that I'm on a slower system at home. Anyone else having these kinds of issues?

The system does tend to use up resources. The larger a wave is & the
more people on the wave, it's more like to crap out at the moment. If
I'm opening the giant "Open wave for Librarians" with over 200 people,
I'll make certain it is the only window on the screen. Not a great
impression, but as this is a preview (read: beta), I'm used to things
not working quite right. They are putting the application through its
paces with more users. I've been filling out bug reports every now and
again when it throws up on itself.

I don't have Google wave, but Mashable blogged about a Manual
explaining the features and how to use it.

The manual can be found at http://mashable.com/2009/11/01/google-wave-guide-2/
and is called "The Complete Guide to Google Wave is a comprehensive
user manual" by Gina Trapani with Adam Pash.

Thought you might be interested.

I'm on Google Wave now! agent...@googlewave.com if you want to talk to me. I'd love to get some library related discussions going, but since we use sucky old IE at work I'll be doing them on my own time.

I'm sure it can be cool but I haven't really figured out what to do with it yet. Probably because I can't use it during business hours so it's just looking like slightly modded email to me.

I'm on Google Wave now too with the ridiculously long name of:
pollyalida...@googlewave.com

Hope to play with this soon and figure out how it works.

If I can figure out if I have invitations to share, I will send them to fellow T folks! Seems they don't give new people invites right away.

John LeMasney, who was at Pres4Lib, has several invites still. He is
on twitter (faster way to reach him) as @lemasney or you can email him
at lema...@gmail.com Just say you are my friend and he will send if
he has them.
