I have been using Samsung Smart Switch in Windows 10 to backup my Samsung S9+. However, now I have a problem in starting the Samsung Smart Switch. After launching, it tries to update the program, but fails everytime. I have tried to re-install the program with no success (downloading a new version of the program from the Samsung download center), and even tried it in two different computers. Any ideas to get the Samsung Smart Switch running again.

I have not managed to completely solve the problem. However, now I downloaded and installed the latest version of Smart Switch, and it is at least somehow working. It still suggest to update Smart Switch every time the program is executed, but now I can just cancel it and the application seems to work properly. This very peculiar since previously I have had no problems with Smart Switch.

I am having the same problem. Smart switch tries to update "some components", but gets stuck on 100% download and never completes the update. I have unistalled and reinstalled several times on several different computers. I am not trying to backup my phone, I am trying to update my Galaxy s20 ultra that has been carrier umlocked and needs to be updated through smart switch.

I had the same problem. Smart Switch would download the update (v4.2.2), but then app would close when the download got to 100%. I would open Smart Switch again, and the same issue would occur so I couldn't use the application because it tried to updated each time I opened it and then it would close automatically. I downloaded and installed the new version of Smart Switch from the Samsung website over the top of the existing installation on Windows 10 1909, and now it's working without any issues.

I'm in the UK and have just installed a small home network. I now have a 6u cabinet in my loft serving 16 ports throughout the house. All 16 cables are tested and connecting properly. I have purchased a GS724T Gigabit Smart Switch used as recommended by a friend.

The switch is installed and powered on. I have done a factory reset on it several times. It is connected currently to a port in the patch panel, through to my old Tenda 8 port dumb switch which will be removed once I have the GS running. The GS724T Gigabit Smart Switch shows a solid green light on the port (1) that is connected to the patch panel. From there it can get access to the DHCP server on my existing Netgear R6220 router. The router does not show this MAC address on the list of connected devices. My Windows 10 (fully updated) PC is also connected to the Tenda at the moment as is my son's PC, my wifes laptop via Wifi, a laser printer and a few smartphones.

On my PC I have installed the Smart Contrrol Centre. It shows the GS724T Gigabit Smart Switch as connected with it's Mac address and the default IP address. I have tried to connect to the switch using Chrome and Internet Explorer and I get the message "192.168.0.239 took too long to respond." I cannot ping the switch, all four packets time out. I have tried disabling Windows defender. I have no other anti virus software.

Since the GS724T switch is still in its default IP address which is 192.168.0.239 and at the same time connected to the existing network where your Windows 10 PC is also connected, you need to set a static IP Address on your Windows 10 PC that is within the IP range of your existing network in order for you to assign another IP address that is within the IP range of the default IP address of the GS724T switch.

5. Select Use the following IP Address. Then, enter the corresponding the LAN IP address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway. From the image you have attached, it shows that the current LAN IP address of your Windows 10 PC is 192.168.1.14. On the LAN IP Address field, enter 192.168.1.14, the Subnet Mask is 255.255.255.0 and the Default Gateway must be the LAN IP address of your existing router.

1. On your Windows 10 PC, open a browser like Google Chrome or Firefox then at the address bar of it, type 192.168.0.239 then press Enter. Login to the user interface of switch. Enter "admin" and "password" as the username and password respectively without the quotation marks.

I am so dumb. I have just seen the '0' and '1' in the IP addresses. However how can I get the address on the switch changed without changing the address of the PC? Must research this tonight but can anyone point me to a resource before then? (Hangs head in shame).

Sorry if I am posting to wrong forum. I have a smart plug so I chose Smart Plugs but did not see my model. I have a TP-Link Smart Plug (1-Pack). Is there any way to control from a Windows PC? Can I use an an Android emulator such as Blue Stacks? If not are there any TP-Link products thaat work like the Smart Plug I have but can be controlled from a Windows desktop?

@arlesterc I just got Bluestacks running on my windows 10 machine. Kasa is partually working. I get an error when I try to turn on-off any of my smart devices. However, The Google home app running on Bluestacks works just fine alowing me to control my TP-link and other devices on my PC. Hope this helps.

I also am using Bluestacks. For whatever reason when using this Android emulator Kasa is not able to control the devices. I know everything works because it works with my actual Android phone properly but when I uses this emulator with the Kasa app it does not work. Oddly it can see that my phone was controlling them properly (it shows the correct on off status). It just doesn't seem to be able to resolve the commands all the way. Using the Google Home app on the emulator is a way around this. Google Home on the emulator seems to be able to properly send the commands to the smart devices.

@dacutty Android emulators need communication routing and the tp link devices use UDP which may be non-trivial to route - I'm not sure if there are configuration options to help you do this with bluestacks. A native alternative is my java app: -java that you can use to turn them on/off, it might be easier to setup.

Google home works because it sends TCP requests to the google internet servers which pass them to the TP Link servers which then control your devices from their cloud - this bypasses the local UDP routing that's used by kasa.

@Kevin_Z I don't see a reply by the original poster but I have this need also. The lamp directly next to my PC has a TP-Link bulb LB110. It's actually my first TP-Link device and I now have 16: 2 bulbs, 7 plugs, 5 switches and two cameras.

To turn on the lamp, I either have to speak to an Alexa device or open my phone, find the TP-Link app then find the button. It would be so nice if I could use a desktop icon. The corner of my computer screen is right next to the lamp. If I'm trying to be quiet, the Alexa option isn't preferred. And the app method is time consuming. Touching the icon would be so intuitive.

It is very good finished but I purchased 3 to work with ZigBee rf433 module thinking that it will work but does not.
My fault, I did not read the advise that it only work with your roller motors.
