This is the install package to the Lite-On WN5301a wireless b/g adapter. It uses the Atheros AR2416 chipset. This card is sometimes found in HP Media Center PC computers. The driver was obtained by emailing Lite-On tech support and asking them to send me a copy of the driver. It works perfectly as far as I can tell, and it is a WHQL driver release.

If the driver listed is not the right version or operating system, search our driver archive for the correct version. Enter LiteOn WN5301a into the search box above and then submit. In the results, choose the best match for your PC and operating system.

Once you have downloaded your new driver, you'll need to install it. In Windows, use a built-in utility called Device Manager, which allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

In Windows 8, swipe up from the bottom, or right-click anywhere on the desktop and choose "All Apps" -> swipe or scroll right and choose "Control Panel" (under Windows System section) -> Hardware and Sound -> Device Manager

I have two older HP Pavillion PCs that I upgraded to Windows 8 without much of an issue. The only drivers I have not been able to locate are for the Wireless NICs. I've looked high and low with no real success, and wanted to see if anyone out there might know if these exist:

(Admittedly, all the HP support docs for this product stop at Win 7, but every other piece of gear in these PCs works just fine other than the missing wireless NIC driver, so I'm trying my luck for a driver versus dropping in new wireless NIC devices.)

Go to the network controller needing drivers in the device manager, click on the driver tab. Click on Update driver. Select the Browse My computer for Driver software method and browse to the driver folder that was created when you ran the file.

Once you download your new driver, then you need to install it. To install a driver in Windows, you will need to use a built-in utility called Device Manager. It allows you to see all of the devices recognized by your system, and the drivers associated with them.

In the Device Manager window, locate the device for which you want to install or update the driver. You can find devices under their respective categories, such as Display adapters, Sound, Video and Game Controllers, or Network adapters.

Click on the Browse button and navigate to the location where you saved the downloaded driver files. Select the appropriate driver file and click OK. Then, click Next to begin the installation process.

Many device drivers are not updated through the Microsoft Windows Update service. If you are having trouble finding the right driver, stop searching and fix driver problems faster with the Automatic Driver Update Utility. Automatic updates could save you hours of time.

The Driver Update Utility automatically finds, downloads and installs the right driver for your hardware and operating system. It will Update all of your drivers in just a few clicks, and even backup your drivers before making any changes.

i own an optiplex 755 sff. now i need to use it for work and i need it to be linked through wifi. after some searches, i found two old wifi cards i could buy that should be compatible with this model:

i can easily find them in used electronics for few euros but i am afraid i cannot find the drivers anymore or they dont work with linux/windows 10. are they good for this model? do new cards work with old optiplex? can someone suggest a new model that fits with this pc?

thank you both for your answers. I already bought and tried in the past to use usb WiFi dongles with other pcs and eventually after 2-3 years they were all dead and didn't turn on anymore. since I need a reliable connection I thought for a WiFi card, taking in account the cheap price they should have after so many years. I ll buy the wda 1320 and try to get it work in Linux, it should be supported. this optiplex has 2 pci slots so it should be easy to install it.

Yes, that is a reasonable option. not sure how long the PCI wireless card will last but since it is cheap even if it breaks in a few years, you can easily replace them. I had a 755 SFF which worked well but then all of a sudden stopped POST. these optiplex can last quite a while. replacing motherboard is cheap too should you want to continue on this model.

I am wanting to move an existing wireless LAN PCI 802.11 b/g adapter WN5301A card from another tower computer into my Optiplex 755 mintower. Is this compatible, or do I need to get a different wireless card? Thanks for your help.
