Many journals don't provide criteria for reviews beyond asking for your 'analysis of merits'. In this case, you may wish to familiarize yourself with examples of other reviews done for the journal, which the editor should be able to provide or, as you gain experience, rely on your own evolving style.

Originality and topicality can only be established in the light of recent authoritative research. For example, it's impossible to argue that there is a conflict in current understanding by referencing articles that are 10 years old.

These give enough detail so that other researchers are able to carry out the same research. For example, equipment used or sampling methods should all be described in detail so that others could follow the same steps. Where methods are not detailed enough, it's usual to ask for the methods section to be revised.

Hello. Curious how anyone with Wiley did on practice exams vs actual scores. So far I made a 70 and 73 on A and B practice exams. I made mid 60s on FAR practice and made 83 on actual. However, my AUD practice scores were pretty close to my actual.

In my opinion, Wiley practice exams are more difficult than the real thing, at least for FAR and REG. I'm currently studying for AUD and just got a 77 on my first practice exam. I will take the actual exam on Saturday so I'm hoping this trend continues.

Each book begins with an introductory chapter covering the CIA exam format and basic study tips. The subsequent chapters cover the domains in accordance with the CIA exam content specifications (i.e., the IIA syllabus).

The CIA exam itself is primarily theoretical. In Parts 1 and 2 in particular, the exam rarely presents computational questions. Therefore, the books for these parts are mostly full of text. However, Wiley tries to make things easier by using as much as possible subheadings, bullet points, and highlight boxes. Additionally, the end of each chapter contains a handful of sample questions for your review.

Wiley proudly has one of the most established and reputable brand names in the accounting and finance exam prep industry. The Wiley CPAexcel course is a popular choice for studying for the CPA Exam. Also, the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA), the administrator of the CMA exam, officially endorses the Wiley CMA review book. Finally, the Wiley CFA review course is highly recognized and best-selling for CFA candidates.

But, if you only have the funds to purchase 1 review course, we do not recommend using Wiley as your one-and-only CIA exam preparation resource. Unfortunately, this course is missing too many CIA review course must-haves. So, while we would love to give the Wiley course a 5-star rating, we must hold off until Wiley adds more critical learning tools.

Enter Wiley Efficient Learning. With an impressive 200-year history of writing and publishing educational materials, this company offers a substantial test prep catalog that can help you learn everything necessary to pass the CIA exam and start working as an internal auditor.

A: Unfortunately, there are no refunds once you enroll in a Wiley CIA review course. However, they do guarantee that you can access your full course for as long as it takes to earn a passing score on the CIA exam.

When studying for the CPA exam, time is your most valuable resource. and when you look at the amount of information included in Wiley CPAexcel you may start to panic a bit and decide to spend TOO long studying.

For example, if you are more of a self-studier like myself then it's a better use of your time to skip the lectures and start in the textbook and absorb the information by reading and then taking practice exams.

The 21 study tips you will learn from the link above will not only sharpen your test taking skills but help you navigate your personal, work and social life. Don't become a hermit. Make the CPA exam a social event and get your friends and family involved!

I have one goal. Help you pass the CPA exam!

I struggled for 2+ years and through 5 failures in a row before finally passing the MOST difficult test in the professional world. I learned EXACTLY what works and what doesn't and I want to help you avoid the same mistakes that I made that cost me hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars!

In addition to their academic publications, they also develop digital learning and assessment tools for the accounting, scientific, technical, and medical fields. Wiley has developed a strong reputation for innovative CPA, CMA, CFA, and CIA test prep. Plus, Wiley also makes study material for the SIE exam and is on the best SIE courses list. And in 2012, Wiley bought Efficient Learning Systems, Inc. and CPAexcel to provide its customers with the best possible learning tools.

Their lectures, although short and sweet, are very general and usually do not touch upon the specifics of the topics at hand. For example, I had to get my old intermediate accounting book and do research on how accruals and deferrals work, and now I am having to go back to that same intermediate book in order to refresh my memory on the single and multiple-step statement because the lecture just touched upon their purpose but no exercises were shown.
Anyway, I am committed, but it seems to me I will have to put in a lot more time than the hour they advertise. Maria

For example, a course like Becker gives you video walk-throughs of every task-based simulation and many of the multiple-choice questions in the test bank. When you see how to solve complicated problems, especially like the simulations, you learn better. (That might be one of the reasons why the Becker pass rates are so high.)

On the surface, Wiley and Becker appear to be incredibly similar courses. Each offers hundreds of hours of video lectures, thousands of practice problems, and textbooks in both print and digital format. Additionally, they are the only two prep companies to offer live CPA review classes, giving students the opportunity to learn in a live class setting. So how do you make the right call when the two courses you are considering look so similar on paper? We closely examine both review courses in this in-depth guide and give you a side-by-side comparison so that you can make an informed decision on which is best for you.

In the video above, John from the Test Prep Insight team (who passed all four sections of the CPA exam on his first try) provides a detailed, side-by-side look at the CPA review courses from Becker and Wiley. Keep reading for a deeper analysis of these two CPA review courses.

Like Wiley, Becker offers a robust curriculum that provides everything you will need to fully prep for the CPA exam. The coursework is comprehensive and spans every bit of material that could conceivably appear on the test.

Wiley CPAexcel provides a thorough course curriculum that touches every topic that may appear on the exam. Consisting of 140+ hours of video lectures, 20+ hours of live online classes, some strong study guides, and a mountain of practice material, they provide a healthy dose of coursework to help you pass the CPA exam.

Task-based simulations (TBSs) test your ability to apply knowledge and judgment in practical situations. They are one of the most difficult parts of the CPA Exam to prepare for. In recent years, the exam has moved toward including more task-based simulations, which now make up 50% of your score on all sections except BEC. The more practice you can get, the better.

In addition to practice exams and mock exams, Gleim offers a Final Review. The Final Review leverages adaptive technology to create a personalized study plan as you finish your exam preparation based on the results of your mock exams, adaptive quizzes, and practice exams. This lets you build up any weak areas and boost your CPA Exam score. Because the Wiley system is not adaptive, it does not provide a Final Review option.

I appreciated the many different ways Gleim let me tackle the information, whether it be reading from the test, video, presentation, audio, and plenty of multiple choice in formats that simulated the exam format or provided immediate feedback.

The Wiley CPAexcel review course requires you to manually select course sections and test bank questions as you study and practice. We could not see any area of the Wiley exam prep materials that offered an adaptive learning experience.

While Wiley was once a top contender in our CPA prep recommendations, its recent acquisition by UWorld raises concerns about its continuity and future direction. Given these uncertainties and the potential changes post-merger, we cannot confidently recommend Wiley for CPA prep at this time. Instead, we wholeheartedly endorse Becker as a reliable and comprehensive choice for CPA exam preparation.

Wiley CPA Review was designed with one thing in mind: efficient learning. They came up with the idea to take the entire CPA exam curriculum and break it down into manageable pieces. This way, students will be able to focus on specific topics rather than broad areas. But does their implementation actually work?

The exam questions or practice test questions are drawn from the Wiley Test Bank of over 5,000 multiple-choice questions. These questions include a variety of past CPA exam questions released by the AICPA, questions created by the AICPA for candidates, and Wiley-created questions.

Each section has a series of related exam questions that can be taken in two different formats. The first format is the study mode. Again, the study text section, the study mode format allows you to go through the questions quickly and get immediate feedback about your answer. They even give you an explanation for each question.

A recently added feature to Wiley CPA Platinum and Ultimate packages is the mentored discussion section. This is a forum where you can post questions about the review course, study questions, or the CPA exam itself. These forums are monitored by the Wiley staff, professors, and other candidates. And while it may take them a while, they will eventually get back to you with an answer to your question.
