Now you have launched the GitHub desktop client, log into your account, and use the desktop client for Git purposes. Select an existing repository or clone a new one to your local machine. The application also allows you to create new branches, commit changes, and push them to your remote repository.
If the GitHub desktop is installed and configured correctly in Ubuntu, a window like the one above will appear. In addition, we will find a menu bar at the top of the application window to perform different types of tasks related to stores.

We need to press the icon, i.e., "Show Applications" from the left-hand side of the desktop and find "GitHub". The below dialog box will occur if the user presses the "github-desktop" downloaded option. Press the install button and give the root password for starting the installation procedure.
The below pop-up screen will occur if we press the "Authorize Desktop" option. It is promoting permission to allow github.com for opening the link, i.e., x-github-desktop-dev-auth. Press the "Choose Application" option to choose the GitHub Desktop application.

Show extension side bar within VS Code(Mac:Command+Shift+X, Windows and Linux: Ctrl+Shift+X), type open-in-github-desktop and press Enter and click Install. Restart VS Code when installation is completed.

Here we tell Git which key to use by making explicit the SSH command (the -i option is for specifying an identity file or key). This gives us more control, for instance, imagine you have multiple accounts on the same host (like github.com), if you were using the SSH config file to use different SSH keys, you would need to create and remember an arbitrary prefix like first.github.com and then remember to use that domain each time you want to clone a repository with this account. In our opinion, it is less flexible and a bit cumbersome.

If you have already committed the change, you need to know the commit hash of the offending commit. There is no way to do that from the GitHub desktop app, so you need to use the command line and run the `git rev-list` command we discussed earlier.
