I'm enjoying this one very much so far. Some of it is over my head
because of the very ENGLISH descriptions of things and English sites
and people. However, I love the flow of the book, and I think Waugh is
a remarkable writer in his clarity and rhythm.

I like Charles very much, and I fear for Sebastian. He is obviously a
charming fellow with a charming family, but their intense Catholicism
is obviously a burden to him; they also seem to want to out-charm
Sebastian, seducing any friend he brings home.

Oh, and I really enjoyed the opening of the story, in which Charles
comes across Brideshead during the war, and a flood of memories comes
back to him. A very nice technique. On to Part Two!
