I've had a very bizarre issue which I assume must be because of Cura because it has only ever happened when I've had Cura open (so far it has happened about 10 times in about 5 hours total of having Cura open. I didn't use Cura for two weeks and nothing happened. Today I used it again and experienced 3 crashes). Sometime, whether I'm currently working in Cura or just have it open in the background, my screens turn off and the computer becomes unresponsive. It doesn't even respond to the power off button anymore, I have to turn it off at the power supply and then boot again. It doesn't seem to be related to the load on the computer. Has anyone experienced something similar or has an idea what might be causing this?
I have almost the identical system as the other user except I am using a Nvidia RTX 2070, and Cura 4.0.0 gives me the black screen of death after a short time...totally kills the machine. There must be a major killer bug in Cura. It seems to be random too.
Currently it looks like some dependencies that were updated for the 3.6 release are causing it. My personal guess is that they are triggering an issue in the ASUS UEFI resulting in the CPU getting too little power.
Just had the same symptom occur with Cura 4.1. Whole system crashed and went to black screen again. I had Cura open in the background. I would say the problem still is there. This only happens when Cura is open.
Okay, thanks! That's bad news but in a way also good news because we hadn't changed anything to fix it so I was worried that we might accidentally trigger the problem again later without knowing how to fix it...
this has been happening to me for the past year and I finally realized two weeks ago that it was cura. Replaced every single part in my pc thinking it was defective shit ? Rig would crash anywhere from minutes to hours after closing cura. I just think AMD bugs out with it for some reason, Black screen, unresponsive had to hard reset from PSU, but sometimes it would randomly reboot itself. Still happens with 4.1 btw
Okay, I finally figured out what superfreezes my PC. It's Cura. And it's version 4.4
It was pretty hard to find out what caused it. First it felt totally random. Then I noticed I could game like 8h straight without a single crash.
Wasn't able to find out any crashlogs or events, other than "power failure", which was caused by me flipping the death switch behind my pc.
Finally, only thing I had on was Chrome and Cura. Googled this problem and here I am.
PC specs:
2700x
GTX 1080
16Gb ram at 3200Mhz
2x SSD, 1x m.2 ssd and 1x HDD
Nearly identical specs as above poster. Same issues hard locks after 10-20 minutes. Resetting by toggling PSU power switch is only way to reboot. Using Cura 4.4.1 and also tried 4.2.1 with identical issues. Willing to go farther back if anyone has tried successfully....?
so sad, my PC crashed again. I am so sick of having my PC crashed while doing work or in front of customers.
Call me, when you fixed the problem, XD. A crash a day keeps my customers away.
Cura has worked perfect on my i7 3770K, but now I can't open cura for even 15 minutes. Even a Raspberry Pi is more reliable than the AMD-Cura combination.
I just flushed 45 minutes down the drain with two crashes as I was about halfway done arranging the benchies. And the crash has happened many times in the past. Wanted to arrange the benchies to print efficiently, I have an 8 up but the layout is not the most efficent
Sorry to hear of the failed prints from crashing. It sounds like you need to clear your cache. To do this you can go to www.lulzbot.com/cura and then scroll down and select windows and follow the upgrading section of the guide there. Clearing the cache is a good thing to do when upgrading versions of Cura and can help clear any software error that causes crashes or other strange behavior.
Then the same result crashed when I tried to duplicate a 6th I think 3D Benchy. I was trying to get 8 Benchies on a single print as that is much more efficient use of time than printing them a couple at a time. Each Benchie takes about an hour, so doing them 8 up means I can start a build and wake up in the morning to 8 fresh Benchies. I am making a box of the Benchies to give out at a Boating Safety event to small kids.
I have also tried just adding one new Benchie at a time and waiting for the slicing to finish before moving the new Benchie into place. Same basic result, around #6 things crash, in the past I have once in a while been able to get to the #8 I want, but I now want to tweak things a bit and no go.
You might try Ultimaker Cura 4.2.1 instead of CuraLE 3.6.18. You can export profiles from CuraLE and import them into Ultimaker Cura but the settings are almost identical. You will have to create a printer profile for your LulzBot printer but again, you can cut and paste.
6)If your program loaded the next step is to stand straight up and jump up and down a minimum of 2 times to show your excitement that it is up and running ONCE AGAIN! if it did not work you have 2 options.

2a) Once the program in uninstalled and the search is done with NO remaining"cura" file results found you can continue back to the start.
NOTE: this may not work in every situation and or cura version or model IE "cura lulzbot edition etc. If that is the case yo have a larer issue/s at hand and may want to contact whoever the software was modified IE lulzbot, Ultimaker etc for further assistance.
Same deal if you uninstall you need to make sure that the C:\Program Files (x86) folder is gone before re-installing. The uninstaller silently failed to delete this directory for because CuraEngine and Cura Slicer were running
Recently when I export a 3d design to stl it is dimensionally changed. The model I am currently working on is a scale model of a train station. I designed it full size, the length being 58 feet. When I export it, then open it in Cura the length is 696 mm so scaling it is very difficult. I am trying to make an HO scale model 1:87.
Any help would be appreciated,

as Dave said .stl is unitless, it just records a number for a given dimension, not a size. So if you are modeling in inches and make something 12 inches it saves as the number 12. When you import to cura MM gets applied, in this case it becomes mm. You cannot change this setting in cura it is by default MM. So you will need to scale the SU file first.
Thanks for the response. The more I thought about the more apparent it became. Seems to me to be a major flaw in the system. I am trying to model a old railway station which is 58 feet long. This means I will have to multiply 58x12x2.54=17,678.4 to get mm and then divide by 87 to get it to HO model railway scale for one dimension. Seems complicated. I do appreciate your help.

i.materialise is a company that offers 3D printing services. They do a very nice job in a wide variety of materials. I use their site as a way to check models and to demonstrate what I showed previously.
I print rc planes with my 3d printer. RC planes from Planeprint, Eclipson, and others use Cura as a slicer and provide specific profiles to print pieces of their planes. Unfortunately the MK4 is not included as one of the machines supported by Cura. As a result, Cura gcode leaves the MK4 in an unstable state after printing where it loses knowledge of the z-axis zero value. The only ways to recover is to perform a full hardware reset or print a gcode file produced by prusaslicer using an MK4 profile.
Ive found that Cura is my Go To slicer ! It always just seems to work. I want to use Prusa Slicer, but it doesn't seem to be reliable. Ive used several slicers, but only Prusa slicer has crashed on several occasions during a print. This just happened recently. It's is fully updated. Is that the problem ? Anyway I'm printing a project with Cura and it is working beautifully !!!
Profile enabled the Prusa MK4 to run the cura gcode without problems, and recover ready for the next print. It is just a machine profile enabling cura produced gcode to print on the MK4 without problems. The quality of the gcode is an independent issue. I was able to print gcode produced by Planeprint and Titan Dynamics provided cura profiles without issue.
Filament settings and fine tuning are no issue. I can do that. If I could get cura to actually start a print that works that would be good enough. I tried to start off with a voron profile and it kept printing on layer 1. Z did not adjust downwards when it started the next layer. I hoped that someone found a way to get the X1C to print with Cura. Finetuning is something I will have to do myself anyways since I will be using LW-PLA.
I guess I have to tell the printer to actually move the plate down after each layer (obviously) but I have no idea where to do that. I never had to with any printer I had so far (carthesians and Delta).
I am really a bit frustrated that no support for CURA is officially available, it was stated in the compatible slicers for the X1 Carbon, and any attempt to query this with them as fallen on deaf ears
2nd of all, the product I 3d print needs extra walls on certain areas of certain parts, in cura this is so easy using modifiers, you can add walls into the interior mesh without adding seams wherever you want. In Bambu Studio the only option is to elaborately create smaller versions of the same part that fit inside the part to use as a modifier to add walls without new seams OR do 100% infill which is overkill for many of the parts and a waste of material.
Cura can only communicate over wifi to Ultimaker printers. Apparently Snapmaker and Ultimaker both use proprietary protocols. So Ultimaker would have to add specific support for Snapmaker which is highly unlikely.

Or take timelapse videos of your prints, Level your printbed
Take control over LEDS or fan inclusive react on temperatures or sutch stuff.
