Hi everybody. I recently upgraded to a new MacBook and ran into an Issue with the Battery Instances in my projects. When I opened a project on my Macbook Pro M2, which I started on my Studio M1 Mac, I'm getting greyed out cells with the name of the sample still written in it, but no sound coming out. Not getting the missing files window, just opening Battery to the grey cells without any sound. After I replaced the grey cells with the same Samples from the browser so they get colored again and produce a sound, it worked a while, until I opened the plugin window of Battery again, which resulted in the samples that I just loaded being greyed out again. What is wrong here? Any Ideas?

It sounds like there may be an issue with the file paths for the samples in your Battery instance. When you move a project from one computer to another, the file paths for the samples may not be the same, and this can cause the samples to appear greyed out.

One possible solution is to manually relink the samples in Battery. You can do this by right-clicking on a greyed-out sample cell and selecting "Show in Finder" (on macOS) or "Show in Explorer" (on Windows). This will reveal the location of the sample file on your computer. Then, in Battery, click on the "Cell" tab and select "Replace Sample". Navigate to the location of the sample file in the file dialog and select it. This should relink the sample in Battery.

If relinking the samples manually does not work, you can try consolidating your samples. This will create a new folder with all the samples used in your project, and update the file paths in Battery to point to this new folder. To do this, go to the "File" menu in Battery and select "Collect Samples". Follow the prompts to consolidate your samples.

I never had this issue before. I always had my sample paths in differnet locations on my Macbook (external SSD) and on my Studio Mac (internal HD), but it worked out all the time. Usually I got asked via the samples missing window, which then made it easy to search the filesystem or spotlight and find the missing ones. Now I don't even get the samples missing window, they are greyed out in the cells BUT they appear in the Battery browser, as soon as I load them into the cells again, I can use the Porject, but If i close and open the plugin window once again, they get greyed out and don't play sound anymore. Also I don't get the meu point "show in finder" when right-clicking a sample cell.

I have the same problem in Logic Pro since I upgraded from M1 to M2 Max. The only way I could solve it was by adding a new track with a new instance of Battery and moving the midi regions to the new track.

@GabGarfield did you find an elegant solution to the problem? Ofc each time separately saving the battery patch with samples is always going to work. but very tedious esp for the many older projects i have.

@Jeremy_NI Now, after this is a known issue for 3 Months, are there any updates on the planned fix? This is a pretty severe issue, which prevents me from working on any of my projects. More details: -instruments.com/discussion/15364/battery-wont-load-any-samples-in-existing-projects-after-upgrading-to-komplete-14#latest

@Jeremy_NI sure, I am a developer myself and I can understand the frustration and impediments that are created by someone asking for progress every hour. But after three months it shouldn't be an issue when they are asked when a fix for a major regression is available. Usually those things are prioritized to be delivered asap. Maybe your devs should be informed about the issues caused by this regression and that a fix should have high priority?

@st-h I hear you loud and clear. We're trying our best to inform the devs as well as POs and voice our users frustration on such issues. I can't really comment on a timeline but I can tell some progress is being made in that department. I will share updates when I have more tangible information.

Now, I get 'battery could not load'. Help guides say that means I don't have Battery. Maschine has Battery in my instruments list, but Native Access says I don't have Battery installed, and to buy a full license is ....179. W.T.A.F!?!?

Are Native Instruments trying to Mandela affect me? I KNOW I had battery... I've spent more money on Maschine plug-ins and expansions now than the Maschine itself, and I keep getting ******. Anyone else angry as hell about this?

@double_dave Checking your account, I can't see a Battery license or a bundle containing Battery 4. Maybe you have another account with different licenses on it? Is it installed on your computer? Was it installed on a previous computer? Can you open it in standalone?

Thanks. It seems this is answered. The komplete select only sells Battery extensions and not the battery itself so the battery ikon as instrument confusing in KK because I do not have the VST. it seems confusing that KK list it as an instrument.

After upgrading to Komplete 14 when I open an old project, Battery suddenly refuses to load any samples. Unfortunately it also won't display the file name of the sample, so I am unable to try to locate the file manually and add it again. This is pretty bad, as I have no clue which samples I used a few years back when I started those songs. Is there a way to find out which file has been used, that Battery now seems to refuse to load?

I also have a similar issue with provided Kits. It will just display all pads greyed out. When I try to use the dropdown next to the Kit preset and choose File->open recent and select the kit again, it displays an internal error.

I can fix that by loading the preset from the library again, though. Maybe Battery is having issues locating the kit that is being used in my projects? However, with earlier versions, Battery would show a popup which would allow to tell it where the samples on my HD are located. Why is this not showing anymore?

@LostInFoundation thanks for your comment. However, it appears this is about a different issue - they might be related, as they are both about the same part of the plugin, notably initialising correctly when reopening a session/project. I am not seeing the missing samples window, which makes it difficult to workaround the issue manually. This thread -instruments.com/discussion/11758/battery-cells-not-loading-greyed-out-cells#latest seems to be about a similar issue, however the only response has been that NI plans to address the issue, but it already is 3 months old without any further updates, which is a bit dated considering the severity and impact of this issue.

I think I'll talk to sales about this. I haven't been upgrading Komplete for a few years and I must say I am quite a bit disappointed. I had quite some hope in the new sounds, but turns out a lot of them just seem to target users that aren't familiar with how to program or play instruments yourself. Action Strikes is a good example, it mostly provides patterns combined with sounds that aren't that good in the end. And I'd rather be able to continue to work on my projects instead of having all the newest sound libraries. Maybe there is a way to downgrade...

@st-h This looks a little different from the BT-2680 bug. Do you remember which version you were using before the update and this started? Do Logic and Battery have full disk access? How to Enable Full Disk Access on macOS

Battery wasn't listed in the full disk access settings, so I added it manually. However, this is a standalone application, but I am using battery as a plugin in logic. Therefor I doubt that this will actually be the cause for this issue. I enabled it anyway, but the issue still persists.

Both. I moved the factory samples to an external hard drive. However, because of BT-2680 I stored the kits that are used in the project on my internal HD, where the logic project also resides. Both factory kits and the ones I stored due to the other bug won't load. So, I don't think location matters here.

Analytical solutions that assess electrodes, separators, binder, electrolytes, and other components can help improve battery integrity and reduce the risk of battery failure. In the lab, in the field, or on the production line, the proper analytical instrumentation can help ensure high-purity lithium and other metals for battery development and manufacturing.

Whether you are producing current or improved lithium-ion batteries or designing and testing next-generation battery technologies, Thermo Scientific instruments and software will help you understand their chemistry and maximize their performance and efficiency.

Sample preparation for scanning/transmission electron microscopy (S/TEM) analysis is one of the most critical and time-consuming tasks. It becomes even more challenging if the sample material is air- or moisture-sensitive. The Thermo Scientific Inert Gas Sample Transfer (IGST) Workflow uses tools like the Thermo Scientific CleanConnect Sample Transfer System to protect your sample throughout preparation and imaging, helping you stay focused on your research.

In battery research, development, and manufacturing, imaging techniques such as scanning electron microscopy (SEM), DualBeam (also called focused ion beam scanning electron microscopy or FIB-SEM), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) are used primarily to study the structure and chemistry of battery materials and cells in 2D and 3D.

Thermo Scientific electron microscopy solutions can capture and analyze battery images ranging from the mesoscale or macroscale down to the atomic scale, which enables battery researchers and engineers to develop safer, more efficient, more durable, and more environmentally friendly batteries.

XPS is essential for understanding the interface between electrolytes and electrodes. Cathode and anode materials of Li-ion cells can be studied to confirm post-cycling changes in composition, to understand the changes in the chemistry of the electrode components, and to determine how the solid electrolyte interface (SEI) layer varies in depth as it develops. XPS has proved useful in studying surface pre-treatment of graphite electrode materials to significantly slow the irreversible consumption of material during battery charging.
