I got my EVGA GTX 770 replaced by EVGA due warranty, so they sent me their GTX970. It worked fine for around 2 months until Windows stopped recognizing it.I tried reinstalling drivers, reinstalling Windows 10, tried every single solution and the card was still undetected. At this point I don't know if it is defective or not and I don't want to lose right away.

I built a new desktop and am having issues with getting the video card to work properly with the proprietary nvidia drivers. Not sure if this is the right place for this question but please move it if its not in the right place.

So I have installed Tumbleweed and have tried to get the nvidia drivers working on it and my searching for others with this issue have not really turned anything up that has helped. But let me go through some of the steps I have taken. I am using SDDM with KDE.

Installing using the nvidia repos. Simply letting Yast install the G06 drivers after I add the repo results in the machine booting to a black screen (can see the light of the screen is on). Following some various things I found I was able to type in my password and once I hit enter the cursor would show up but everything was black. Trying to go to a terminal ctrl+alt+(13) before typing in my password results in the monitor not getting a signal, after I type in my password I can go to either of those and get a weird like 5 lines of a terminal screen.

Added nomodeset to the boot config and booting up allows me to execute the NVIDIA installer script successfully. I have it generate the xorg conf and reboot and it appears like this works, however I still am running into issues with this. It boots properly and nvidia drivers are loaded and things seem to be usable, however I tried to play some x265 encoded content and my screen goes black and I ended up with the same black screen with the curson on it, this stays until reboot and then its back to normal until I try to play some content again and the black screen comes back with the cursor.

Since the nviidia installer was able to work with nomodeset I then set that, made sure I was booted with that being set with no nvidia drivers installed. I then add the nvidia repo and install it that way. When I boot up I can see my cursor but its still just on a black screen. Like my first try I can enter my password and I still just get a black screen with a cursor. However based on the cursor activity with the page it appears that kds has loaded up and the cursor is interacting with programs that were launched when it loaded, but I still just have a black screen. However in this scenario going to ctrl+alt+(13) vttys always results in no signal being sent to the monitor.

I did the fresh install and now it gets hung up on installing nvidia drivers. I have checked the risers and they work properly with the 1660S I have. I thought i did my research on this card but missed the fact it was an LHR. I will use it for the time being if I can get it working and then use it for a different build.

Had some significant driver issues with the new card where I'm crashing in the games and at launch. The game does not maximize and crashes in a small minimized box. It seems the newest drivers are terribly incompatible with Bf4. Can someone please help me with this new card, love how it looks when it works. I'm close to taking it back because its been a nightmare.

The video card driver installs so much junk and yes for some PC's the HD audio driver makes issues for some people. I have a whole list of steps I will give you tonight when we deal with your video card driver no worries. I always do my video card drivers in advanced and will give you a whole list of steps from start to finish but be warred you will only be installing two things lol the driver and control panel for the video card they can keep the rest as it can and will make issues for some people. By the time we are done you will be a pro at this :] The settings in this post and updates in first post should help with the disconnected problem. In over 20 years of PC games I have never had to open a port and not a road I will send you down unless we have to.

I just resubbed to SWTOR about 2 weeks ago after 3.5 years off. I am having issues with my display driver crashing constantly...sometimes freezing the computer up. I have installed the most recent live drivers from Nvidia using DDU in safe mode, and also tried the driver previous to the current live version. I also changed my grass graphic setting to 0 and nothing helps.

This is the only game that my computer crashes on. Any suggestions?

Have you bought products from EVGA? Then, you may need to know how to download and install the latest EVGA drivers. This post from MiniTool Partition Wizard offers you 3 ways to do that and you can have a try.

Why you can update EVGA GPU drivers from Nvidia? VIDIA and AMD are manufacturers of GPU chips. They have mastered the core technology of graphics cards and are the most upstream manufacturers of graphics cards.

Due to the above reasons, you can update EVGA drivers from Nvidia. If you have used other Nvidia products and have installed the software used to download and install Nvidia drivers, you can use this software to update EVGA drivers directly.

If you have an EVGA Nvidia GeForce graphics card, you may want to install the latest drivers from the CD that came with your card. So, the Nvidia drivers on Linux only report up to two fans, regardless of how many fans the GPU has. This makes sense for FE/Reference cards that only have two fans, but most AIB cards, especially newer/high end ones, have three fans and are not designed to run with only 2.

@BlueGoliath that might interest you as well. Apparently the Nvidia drivers will only ever detect 2 fans, and any individual control over a third fan would require support from the AIB partner (or reverse engineering I suppose). That said, I was able to eventually get the 3rd fan to sync back up with the other two, but it would be nice to have individual fan control like you mentioned.

Greetings @Crisselle_Intel

I tried their driver at first, it delivers the same results, exactly.

When I write to EVGA, they tell me to write to Intel, You, Intel, tell me to write to EVGA.

I mean this is Catch 22 situation, do You realize that?

I will write to EVGA again, paste it here, and I will paste Your message to them, so at least users can see the lack of logic in this situation.

Btw. all of the drivers are signed by Intel, isn't the FW made by Intel too? I mean it's Your chip, Your peripheral, what does EVGA has to do with it?

Best regards

Bryan

As for the issue that you are encountering, it is still best to contact the motherboard manufacturer. Reason we are referring you to contact EVGA because they are still the best source of support. Unfortunately, our support is limited since this is an Original Equipment Manufacturer(OEM) on-board Ethernet controller. We understand that this is an Intel Ethernet controller that's embedded with EVGA motherboard but it would still be best for him to get in touch with EVGA for further support since they have customized drivers, software, procedure and firmware to enable or alter features on his system. They are in best position where he can seek assistance so he does not lose features or customizations of the Ethernet controller.

Windows 8.1 features an upgraded display driver model, WDDM 1.3, which lets users take advantage of a few new features. GPUs based on AMD's Graphics CoreNext architecture will be supported by Windows 8.1 over WDDM 1.3, while older VLIW4 and VLIW5-based GPUs (Radeon HD 6000 series and older), will be supported over older WDDM 1.2 based drivers.

I cannot figure this out. I've rolled back drivers, uninstalled all I can and reinstalled them. Tried 3 different (current, last and a few versions back) Nvidia drivers using DDU each time.
I've run sfc/scannow and a few other commands to wipe and repair Windows update and check that all the Windows files are fine, they all report that everything is fine, or that they corrected something and when run a second or third time come up clean.
I've booted to safe mode a few times, not spent much longer than a few minutes there so I can't really tell if it happens in that environment.
I've rebuilt my W10 install USB stick with an updated version from the Windows support page and run Windows start up repair.
I've tested the RAM, using windows memory tester and also using 1 stick, 2 sticks in each socket
I've reseated the CPU, and also replaced the CPU with a new one
I've reseated the GPU a few times as it's a recently new build and I had to go back to my old one for a few days during a return window(old pc runs fine, no issues)
I've reseated all cables at both ends
I've remounted the motherboard to make sure nothing was touching underneath
Basically I've taken it all apart twice and put it back together.
I've use the DP to HDMI cables between 2 machines no issues
All hard drives have been used across both machines, no issues
