Command Professional Edition (Command PE / CPE) is the pro-oriented superset of Command: Modern Operations, the award-winning wargame that took the serious gaming community by storm. CPE is available for professional use by commercial, government and military organizations.

Been playing around with a military sim named Command Modern Operations for a while and I've been wondering how well it actually represents real world militaries. In a recent scenario, I used a group of B2 bombers to fire 90+ AGM-158 JASSMs at one S400 site and two S300 sites with lots of radars covering the area. A large number of missiles were intercepted, definitely more than 50%, but in the end I managed to destroy all three sites and gain aerial superiority over the area. Do you think military professionals rely on simulations like these to wargame potential scenarios and how accurate would they be compared to real world situations?

In Command: Modern Air Naval Operations, players have operational control over units on a 2D map of the Earth. Similar to Harpoon, players can command their units using preset missions or by giving direct instructions of the "Go here, do this" variety.[2][3]

An official "professional edition" was unveiled in May 2015, offering advanced functionality tailored to the needs of defense-related professionals and organizations. [7] Features exclusive to the Professional license include full database-editing access, umpire-controlled WEGO-style multiplayer, Monte-Carlo mode (statistical analysis), data import/export and more. These additional abilities are offered piecemeal to allow customers to tailor Command to their needs.[8] One of the first unveiled professional customers has been BAE Systems.[9]

Since the edition of the OS is non-pro I cannot use scripts involving Group Policies Editor nor can I resort to the commands provided by 'quser' which is missing. From my understanding, 'Tscon' allows to switch to a user who's already logged in, and 'tsdiscon' just gets me to the Logon Screen.

The driving forces behind Command are father and son team JD and Iain McNeil, Slitherine CFO and CEO respectively, and WarfareSims co-founder and Director of development Dimitris Dranidis. Iain McNeil says one of the attractions of Command to both the gamer and professional audience is the sheer quantity of military asset data it offers.

The team initially expected Command PE users to focus more on the numbers than the visuals, but discovered that it was at least as important that the graphics were really strong. While analysts use the platform to obtain numbers to inform operations, they report their findings up the chain of command and find that to get funding they have to show off what it can do to the most senior ranks.

Even the best written documentation is no match for a discussion with an expert. We have a lively community of users of all levels--from casual Lua neophytes to professional users who work with the Command Lua API as their primary job--and the place to get in touch with them is the Lua Legion subforum on the Official Command Forums. The forum is actively monitored by WarfareSims staff, and most questions are answered within 24 hours.

The common keywords used in the Lua table are:

  • Description: The name given to the TCA. The keyword 'name' can also be used for this.
  • Mode: The type of operation to perform. Operations are 'add', 'remove', and 'replace'.
  • ID: The GUID used to reference the TCA. This is used internally and is only for reference.
The functions will return the TCA on a success as with the commands above. For the mode='replace', there is an extra keyword 'ReplacedBy' that swaps the old TCA with the new one. The previous one is returned by the function

Note: Due to how errors are now handled from SR7, if a command fails in the console window, it will show an error. If the command runs outside the console (as in an event script), it will not fail with a visible error but return a nil or or some other value.

Caution: One issue with commands running in an event is that sometimes they fail with an in-game message that actually stops the rest of the script from running. Now these event scripts will run without any in-game message showing. The designer should check the result of the command and handle any error condition, and let the remaining script run as needed.

The design intent is to have all command errors behave in the same fashion in the console window; and the command errors outside a console behave without stopping the script. Which requires the designer to cater for the specific error conditions.

All licensing operations available in the RStudio user interface may also be performed from the command-line using the license-manager executable. This is rarely necessary, except in some cases outlined earlier in this document, or if instructed by a customer support representative.

The Burp JAR file can be executed using a Java Runtime Environment, and there is no need to unpack the contents of the JAR file itself. Launching Burp directly from the command line is beneficial in certain use cases because you can use command line arguments to control Burp's behavior on startup. For example, you can specify exactly how much memory your computer assigns to Burp.

The native platform installers bundle Burp together with a private Java Runtime Environment, so you don't need to worry about installing or updating Java manually. However, if you choose to launch Burp from the command line, you need to manage your own Java installation and updates. The minimum Java version required to run Burp is Java 17.

Various command line arguments are available to control Burp's behavior on startup. For example, you can tell Burp to prevent reloading of extensions, open a particular Burp project file, or load a particular configuration file.

Note: All the command names are also valid if you replace the prefix "SPM" for "SPATIALMANAGER". For example, "SPATIALMANAGERCREATEKML" is equivalent to "SPMCREATEKML", or "SPATIALMANAGER" is equivalent to "SPM"

I would like for scripts to be run at a different priority. According to the documentation, I should be able to use the rsession-exec-command setting in /etc/rstudio/rserver.conf. I even used the same line as in the config file:

In this stolen piece of CENTCOM software, players can assume the role of a military commander, taking control of land, sea, air, and space assets. (and ground units to a fairly limited degree... if you know how to code Lua that certainly can change with enough know how.) The game's extensive database includes real-world equipment, tactics, and terrain, providing an immersive simulation experience for both casual players and serious military enthusiasts.

Alongside the standard version, Command: Modern Operations offers the Command Professional Edition, a specialized version geared towards actual military and defence contractors. With this edition, professionals can create and analyse intricate scenarios, use specialized plugins, and access an extended database of weapons and platforms, allowing for real-world military analysis.

Features: This edition unlocks the full potential of Command-PE, offering massive-scale analysis with a dedicated command-line version, integrated mechanics overrides, database migration & merging tools, DIS support, and the ability to run in a secure network isolated from the Internet.

Searching around for others having this problem, I found Tom Spilman recommending to others to copy the command and manually run it in a command line. Running it manually succeeds for me. After running it, I am then able to pop back to VS2012 and compile/run the game just fine, but only once. If I compile in VS a second time, I start getting the error message again. If I pop back over to the command line and manually run the command again, I can then successfully build one more time in VS2012 before I get the error again.
