Backin 2017, DreamWorks Animation revealed The Boss Baby, based around the idea of a businessman baby brother shaking up a kid's life. It was successful enough to spawn both a TV spin-off and, now, a sequel, which takes the story forward but also finds a way to bring back the characters from the original in more literal form than you might expect. Check out the trailer for The Boss Baby 2: Family Business...
In the sequel, directed again by Tom McGrath, we catch up with the Templeton brothers Tim (James Marsden) and his Boss Baby little bro Ted (Alec Baldwin). They have since become adults and drifted away from each other. Tim is now a married stay-at-home dad. Ted is a hedge fund CEO. But a new boss baby with a cutting-edge approach and a can-do attitude is about to bring them together again.
DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox have debuted a brand new trailer for Boss Baby, a hilariously universal story about how a new baby's arrival impacts a family, told from the point of view of a delightfully unreliable narrator, a wildly imaginative 7 year old named Tim. Not only do we get a fresh look at this very funny comedy for all-ages, we also get a special introduction from Alec Baldwin himself. He says this to the paying audience.
"I'm Alec Baldwin, and you are seconds away from seeing a sneak peek of Dreamworks' new animated film, The Boss Baby. I'm so excited for you, really. I've got the whole butterfly in the tummy thing going on."
The Boss Baby hits theaters everywhere on March 31, 2017! The animated family comedy will arrive in both traditional movie theaters and in 3D. Tom McGrath directs the movie from a script written by Michael McCullers. The DreamWorks Animation project is actually based on the very popular and award-winning picture book by Marla Frazee, whose pages come to life in this latest video.
Ramsey Ann Naito produces Boss Baby. Alec Baldwin takes on the title character. He is joined by a fine ensemble of voice acting talent. At his side for these hilariously fun antics will be none other than Steve Buscemi, taking on a rare family film for a change. Also lending their vox talents are Jimmy Kimmel, Lisa Kudrow, and Miles Bakshi.
DreamWorks Animation and the director of Madagascar invite you to meet a most unusual baby. He wears a suit, speaks with the voice and wit of Alec Baldwin, and stars in the animated comedy, DreamWorks' The Boss Baby. The Boss Baby is a hilariously universal story about how a new baby can disrupt a family, especially when we view this world from a lower angle, as told by young Tim. With a sly, heart-filled message about the importance of family, DreamWorks' The Boss Baby is an authentic and broadly appealing original comedy for all ages.
When the brother of this fast-talking briefcase-carrying baby embarks on a mission to win back the sole affection of his parents, he stumbles upon a secret plot by the CEO of Puppy Co. that threatens to destroy the balance of love in the world. And this brash baby executive masquerading as his new brother is at the center of it all. Now, they must come together as true brothers to stop the dastardly scheme, save their parents, restore order to the world, and prove that love is indeed an infinite force.
Tom McGrath made his directorial debut with Madagascar in 2005, going on to direct that franchise's next two sequels. He also helmed the 2010 animated comedy Megamind featuring the voices of Will Ferrell and Brad Pitt.
The Boss Baby is a born leader. Get a new look at this infant terrible in the full trailer courtesy of DreamWorks and 20th Century Fox. Then be sure to mark your calendar for this surefire hit. You don't want to miss one joke when it comes to the very funny Boss Baby!
Few modern comedic actors have a voice quite as instantly recognizable as Alec Baldwin. The former 30 Rock star and frequent Saturday Night Live host has made a career off of playing smooth talkers, so it's almost shocking to realize that he hasn't done much in the realm of animation outside of a few television guest appearances. However, that's definitely poised to change with the upcoming release of DreamWorks' The Boss Baby. A new trailer for the movie has just hit the web, and it looks like an absolute riot. Check it out below!
That trailer promises to be a delightful movie that answers an age-old question: what would happen if we combined 30 Rock's Jack Donaghy with Family Guy's Stewie Griffin. Okay, maybe that's not an age-old question, but you get the idea. The core conflict of The Boss Baby centers on a 7-year-old boy who finds his life turned upside down when his parents bring him a newborn baby brother. As the elder brother begins to feel more and more phased out by the newborn, he starts to notice that his little brother acts incredibly odd for an infant. Eventually he realizes that the baby is actually working for a company called BabyCorp, and is secretly plotting against puppies, who have surpassed babies in terms of cuteness.
At this stage in the film's marketing campaign, there are still quite a few aspects of the movie that we aren't quite sure about. Is the baby actually talking and conducting business, or is the boy imagining that as a way of coping with such a massive life shift? We don't really know at this point, but both possibilities present hilarious narrative avenues for the film.
Aside from the awesome jokes and the inherent cuteness of the overall plot, it's definitely worth noting that there's some truly stellar animation at work in The Boss Baby trailer. The film appears to be chock full of awesome action sequences, and they all look clear, well choreographed and downright cool. We have seen an enormous surge in the quality of animated films in recent years, and DreamWorks definitely seems intent on getting in on the action. As long as they keep making phenomenal movies, we're in no position to complain.
At its core, and despite all of the jokes and cool action sequences, the central thesis of the film appears to be deeply rooted in the concept of family. The baby and his older brother clearly have quite a bit of trouble coping with their newfound brotherhood, but we have a distinct feeling that they will come to respect one another throughout the course of the movie. That's how the best animation works these days -- by combining humor, spectacle and healthy dose of pathos.

Just when you thought you were safe from The Boss Baby, his pudgy little arms reach out and pull you back in. A sequel to the hit, Oscar-nominated Dreamworks Animation movie is coming to theaters next spring (fingers crossed!), and the first trailer has just arrived, letting us know that whatever drugs the franchise's writers are on must be out of this world.
The Boss Baby: Family Business finds the Templeton brothers Tim and Ted (James Marsden and Alec Baldwin) all grown up and estranged from each other. Tim has a family of his own, including a super smart 7-year old named Tabitha (Ariana Greenblatt) and a new infant named Tina. But what Tim and Ted don't know is that Tina is a top secret agent for BabyCorp on a mission to uncover the dark secrets behind Tabitha's school and its mysterious founder, Dr. Edwin Armstrong (Jeff Goldblum). Don't you want some of these drugs?! Watch The Boss Baby 2 trailer below to see how wild this gets.
Though Tim and Ted may now be grown up, it won't stay that way for long. BabyCorp has developed a special formula (get it?) that gives grown ups the ability to become babies again (or at least much younger in the case of Tim) for 48 hours. It seems like Tim and Ted might be more helpful in this department if they were still adults, but whatever. I'm not the one getting high and writing these movies.
The world of The Baby Boss just keeps getting weirder and weirder. The first movie raised many questions about how the BabyCorp world operates and just how much adults see when it comes to the secret antics of these babies, and pretty much none of them were answered. This sequel certainly looks like it will raise even more and has no intention of making any sense. Even in the wacky world of cartoonish baby espionage, there should be at least some consistency with the logic, right?
The Boss Baby: Family Business is directed by Tom McGrath with a script by Michael McCullers. If you are their drug dealer, please feel free to reach out with some samples. The movie is slated to hit theaters on March 26, 2021. Here's the lengthy synopsis from Universal Pictures and DreamWorks Animation:
My kids have been wanting to see Boss Baby ever since they saw the first trailer. From the little movie snippet it appeared to be family friendly and funny which made me want to see it as well! It was all of those things and more. My older 5 children could relate to Timothy in their own way after having baby 6.
