Items are the main mechanic of gameplay. Items fall into 3 main types; Melee, Ranged, and Miscellaneous. Melees are sorted into the first slot of the hotbar, ranged weapons in the second, and miscellaneous items in the third. Some items may be upgraded after gaining a certain amount of kills with them, and some items have unique synergies when used with other items. The "agreement with the RNG gods" gamepass does not affect the chances of obtaining good items.
Melee weapons always appear in the first slot of your inventory, and are used at close range and typically feature high damage output compared to ranged weapons. Some of them also function as utilities, usually a speed boost. Melee hitboxes function by generating several boxes when the item is used. If a target is inside a box as it is generated, it will count as a hit.
Third-spot/Miscellaneous items are those that serve some sort of utility purpose. Some grant healing, others grant stat boosts, but most grant some extra aspect to the player's loadout that are typically used situationally. Some of them are completely useless, as is the nature of the game.
Secret items that can be obtained only by special means. Most are awarded as upgrades by getting a certain killstreak with specific weapons. Others can be obtained only under special conditions, and a few can only be obtained from the fortnite card. Regardless of obtainment conditions, all secret items can also be obtained from a Fortnite card.
Items that are only granted to the player that has been selected as the boss in the JGN game mode. Depending on which loadout the chosen juggernaut picks, they will receive a specific set of weaponry to use from in order to defeat the other remaining players that are trying to defeat them.
Items that are only accessible to owners of certain badges. These items still have their respective category but show up with yellow text in the admin panel and can only be given to players who own the badge, whether that be through the admin panel or spawning with it. Although, they are still obtainable through the use of fortnite card, even if you don't have the badge.
Items that are only accessible to the public in Private Servers via the admin console. Some of these items used to be available in public, but have since been moved to this category- others are blatantly overpowered or broken and have always been here. Real administrators and developers of Item Asylum can use these in public servers.
There are 4 main types: Broken, for items that don't work, Abuse, for items that are intentionally overpowered, Joke, for obvious gag items, and finally Vaulted, for items that have been moved here from the public game.
As well as Private Server items, there are some festive items as well. Festive items have a Christmas theme, and could've been found on xmas_backyard by opening the rainbow presents. The items themselves have different abilities, like doing heavy melee damage, or throwing a low damage projectile that could be spammed very easily.
