I have a Sharp Roku TV and it keeps dropping whatever I'm watching and switching to the Netflix login screen every 5 minutes or so. I'll be watching a movie on Amazon Prime or HBO and the screen will just go black, and switch over to Netflix. I went to the main menu and checked for the most recent software update, and it's up-to-date, so I'm not sure how else I can fix this. Please help. Thanks!
This would appear to be a remote issue. Please contact your TV's manufacturer directly to report this issue and request additional support. Each Roku TV manufacturer provides direct support and warranty services for their products running the Roku OS.
For my specific issue I finally have an answer. My son is pushing the "cast" button on his Ipad. It had nothing to do with the Roku, remote or TV and everything to do with casting. My son has low vision and hits the wrong icon when trying to perform a search.
There is something wrong - i am watching prime and it keeps switching back to netflix and my son gets logged out from Netflix on the Ipad whenever this happens. Very annoying - it happens often. This seems to be a bug Roku needs to fix it.
My TCL Roku keep switching to HBO this is ridiculous! TV only a year old to be having issues. I need some answers now! I would not be purchasing another TCL tv wouldn't be recommended to family members or friends.
I contaced Netflix and they tell me I am using a VPN?? I have not downloaded nor installed one. After an exhaustive chat, they basically said call my ISP. So, after talking with Rogers, they in turn state it's nothing on there end, call Netflix. Well, i called back and actually had someone do quite a bit more investigation with me.
Well, I got the answer of " since we can't figure it out, continue to be inconvenienced and use it on whatever does work but for now, we will investigate it. If we do figure it out, just check back periodically until you see if it is fixed. We won't email you if it does though.
1) Check to see whether you have Protected Browsing enabled in the Ignite WiFi Hub. If so, try disabling it because it can cause some applications to break in unpredictable ways. Also, make sure that your set-top boxes are not protected by Parental Controls. I would also reboot your Ignite gateway to reset your network.
2) It's possible that the Netflix application has gotten into a bad state and needs to be reset. Press the "A" button on your Ignite remote to access the Help screen, scroll right and select "Reset Netflix". After you do this, you will need to log back into Netflix again.
@karl_kennedy Without more information, I cannot explain why your Ignite set-top box cannot play some content but your Xbox can. If you are using a standard Rogers installation, it could be that different devices are accessing different CDN servers and caches with different local configurations, or possibly one is accessing Netflix from an IPv4 address and the other connects over IPv6 and only one of those address ranges is getting blocked.
I'm new to FIOS. I know how to access Netflix using the widget button, and I know how to select what I wish to watch. However, once the program has ended, how to I get back to the Netflix menu without exiting Netflix and coming back in again?
Press the left arrow key and it will bring you back to the Netflix menu. It took me a few times to learn this as well. You can also wait until the onscreen prompt comes up that says "Back" in the top left corner.
This is not true for me. Neither the cc key (*) or the picture size (#) buttons on my FiOS remote work on Netflix. Actually, the Netflix app on FiOS is terribly supper laggy. Is there something wrong with my equipment?
I've discovered that Netflix has it's own CC option...I think it's shown under 'subtitles' on the individual show/movie you are viewing. It will stay on however, for all subsequent viewings unless you turn it off for what you are currently viewing. As for the picture aspect, I cannot tell you how much it annoys me that we cannot control that. I don't think it's a FIOS issue because I had the same issue with Optimum. It doesn't work with Amazon Prime either. BUT if you watch on a PC, you can go "Full Screen" and get rid of those annoy bars that block out half the picture. Go figure!
thanks for the reply but because sonos does not adapt to netflix prime etc ... many movies see spider man away from home is in DTS so it is widely used, the fact that sonos does not care about customers
Ah yes, I was wrongly thinking in terms of the Beam and its ARC connection and forgot the PlayBase has the slower* (*less through-put) optical port connection, so thanks @controlav for putting that straight for me. The hardware is simply not upto the task.
Netflix down under is all 5.1 so my Playbase is fine. As for the centre channel it's there but not as much seperation perhaps as the Playbar? I find dialogue fine perhaps you need both dialogue enhancement and night mode on!
hopefully ... although in May in my opinion something will come out anyway a great pity because the quality is excellent, with netflix I always have to keep the remote in my hand and turn the volume up or down, do you also have the playbase? Does it make a difference to replace the optical cable by taking a better one?
I think Sonos are quite lazy and complacent, only updating products when absolutely forced to. They managed to get any customer wanting DTS to find their own solution hiding behind pretending to be only catering for streaming services. Now with those providers moving to high res, DD+, Atmos etc they now have no choice. Expect the bare minimum of features they can get away with even with the competition catching up and even overtaking them. Given the fiasco around their May announcement I still like the audio quality but not the company any more. Rant over!
My hope of course is that the next generation of HT hardware will at least support all the Dolby formats DD.2.1/DD5.1 DD+5.1/DD MAT. It would be nice if they were to also include Atmos and perhaps Dolby TrueHD (uncompressed) too.
Do they have wifi? I have a chromecast which I love. You find things on your phone and then cast to the TV - youtube, netflix etc. It also has apps on it and a remote control to control it.
In order to work (and I think firesticks are similar) you need:
TV with HDMI port
Power near the TV to connect it to
Wifi - to connect the chromecast
Ask if they have smart TVs so you can log in on their TV with your accounts.

Different things which do similar - chromecast, roku, firestick

You can connect your iPad to your tv with a special dongle. You have to buy the Apple one or it doesn't work but that effectively puts your iPad screen onto your tv screen so you can steam Netflix that way.
You might want to check the wifi is good enough for that though. If it isn't, you could download a load of stuff I guess
When we go we take our play station which has netflix on it. It worked fine.
You need a hdmi cable to attach to the tv. This is the cable you connect your game console, sky box etc to her tv with.
I hope you all are doing well. Our team is aware of this behavior and is still looking into it. To help with their investigation, please submit feedback using your Google Home app. Check out the steps below for guidance:
If the issue is isolated to Netflix, you may want to reach out to Netflix Support to see if they are aware of any issues on their end. I look forward to your responses on this, and if you have any other questions or concerns for me, please let me know.
Best regards,

Old user. (Various chromecadt for tv 4k)
Only on Netflix.( otherapps work great)
Uninstalled and reinstalled.
Softwares Up do date
Started just around 2 weeks ago.
All phones in family group experiencing the same problem. I opened other threads of the issue and other users responded the same thing. You. An see one here responding on the same issue as me.
Netflix support were very rude and not helpful at all. ((They concentratedcon Netflix in my phone -not the issue- rathervthan on my chromecast tv)) I tried to ecplain and the "only solution wad uninstall delete account from cadt and start all over.. done and still not working. They hung up the call.
BTW - the unresponsiveness is only on chromecast while using Homeapp as the remote to control Netflix. If you use the chromecadt original (white) remote control it works fine. ( but its drainning batteries in just one day) thats why im using the home app remote in my phones. Or any other streaming app on chromecast i can efficiently use my phone as the remote.
Jeran, has there been any activity on this issue? If you see my reply from today on this post, you will see that this problem has been going for a month with no resolution. Many of us have already contacted Netflix and they' are not even aware of the problem. Besides that, their fixes don't work. ALL other apps work using the Google Home apps remote. ALL other apps that I use on my Samsung Galaxy phone and tablet display the Google TV with Chromecast device when I click the Cast icon.
Bottom line: there are two problems accessing Netflix on the Google TV with Chromecast device: (1) Netflix does not respond to the remote in the Google Home app; (2) the Netflix app (for me, that would be the Android version) does not display the Google TV with Chromecast device when you click the cast icon.
