Eventually the servers will die, and it will be sad to have such great games dead. We need to have a way to play completely offline, i don't care if they recycle the system from Battlefront 2. Just give us bots as a last update.

I've been watching the Battlefield V Dev Talks and recently, I saw something that looks like bots named "[Auto] ServerPlayer"in the server where the Devs showed their improved features. So, are these bots going to be available to play with on launch, instead of Coop Mode and War Stories ? I really hope we could have a private server to play with bots since my internet connection isn't very good. Its hard for me to keep buying PS Plus just to play online while my connection is terrible to play online. Hopefully they are going to let us have fun with bots just like in Battlefront 1 Skirmish.

Well I totally understand your point sir, but I have to disagree with the vast majority don't have interest in bots. Sure the bots doesn't really work like how real players played, but there are a lot of people been asking for Bots (at least for offline) for Battlefield game since BF3. I made a video on YouTube talking about this and there's a lot of people that really want a return of bots in BF franchise. To be honest I don't think they will ever release bots for BF games (maybe future BF games), but bots are needed for games like BF. The reason why BF known for Conquest is because other gamemodes are dead. No more players played on other gamemodes except TDM, Conquest, Operations. Sad to see gamemodes that I wanna play like Supply Drops, War Pigeons are no longer have player base. But thanks for replying sir. Good to know there's somebody willing giving out their opinions. Thanks again

Same here. I refuse to play the new versions unless they introduce bots again. Just want to play the game with friends vs AI. Don't want to deal with the drama makers and cheaters in MP any longer.

Hello all. I just wanted to bring up this discussion and display the letter I sent to DICE talking about the reimplementation of singleplayer/splitscreen offline bots into Battlefield. Here is a different version of the text of the the letter. I hope you all can read this and discuss with me the finer points within:

Bots/Splitscreen Keep Games Alive
It is a common fact that the majority of gameplay modes that feature bots and splitscreen are often played offline. This is vital for players who grow an attachment to a game and wish to continue playing it even after its life cycle has ended. As with the Battlefield franchise, the early PC titles have multiplayer that can be played indefinitely despite the shutdown of their servers due to the inclusion of bots. Many players still have games such as Battlefield 1942 installed on their PCs due to bot support, and game franchises like Halo are highly successful due to its Splitscreen support. With full Offline Bot and Splitscreen support, the longevity and immortality of the title in question is ensured.

Bots/Splitscreen Enable Play For Those Without Internet
As mentioned before, most bot/splitscreen-friendly gameplay modes are played offline, which is a much needed boon to those who are for some reason or another unable to utilize an Internet connection, though bot support is more ideal, as only one player is required to play with bots (in most cases). These reasons can vary, but two main reasons involve the strength of the Internet signal itself and the cost set forth by the respective Internet Service Provider. The latter reason is especially problematic among players who live in rural areas of the United States of America. With Full Offline Bot/Splitscreen Support, players from around the world can play a game at anytime, with or without a connection to the Internet. Players who play offline with bots also enjoy games free of lag, cheaters/hackers, and obnoxious players who barrage other players with profanities, racial/homophobic slurs, and maternal insults.

@ChrisAWJBethel

Great post OP, nice write up. I'm all for people getting what they want, as long it doesn't directly affect others. As long as the online MP game doesn't feature bots, I'm all for it, sounds like fun.

Battlefield runs as a "Game as Service". Been this way for quite a few titles now. Because of this you more than likely won't see an offline mode. Especially a MP/CO-OP variant. This would drastically increase the install size of the game.

Sorry but it's an online world now and offline is just not contemplated these days. But BFV has coop missions for up to 4 players and Battlefront had the same and even full bot matches ??? Can't remember if they were single player only or coop. Maybe my PC master race background but are any of the console shooters still running split screen ??

first of all, my eternal gratitude for this community & making it possible to play Battlefield Bad Company 2 after the shutdown of the original servers. The trips down memory lane have so far been a pleasant surprise, seeing how well aged BF:BC2 is over more then a decade. So much nostalgic bliss. Thank you!

im not sure because i havnt tried it but i think this is what you are looking for
How to play BFBC2 with offline bots - Mod by Napisal (youtube.com)
You may also have a look at Napisals youtube for more info, these are from his work Napisal Mod Channel - YouTube but sadly he has not continued his work for a long time and many of the links in his videos are no longer available.
hope thats what you were looking for

hi again @B0mbV0yage2.0 ,
yes its quiet the little secret as to how the bot server got their hands on it at all, or quite what it is, most assumed Napisal never finished it. Worth having a look through the chat on the VU discord and more specifically another discord called BattlefieldModding ; where theres a few resources and plenty of people that may be able to help.

I would like to know if there is a way for adding bots in lan multiplayer mod ,but that to be offline! I do appologize if this sounds silly, but I really don't know how to explain that what I want better!

I'm asking this question because I saw a Youtube video of a guy talking about Killzone Shadowfall, and he was playing offline against bots, but still scoring points, and the AI bots were very challenging to fight against. So, which games this generation, and before, allow you to do this? I know the Unreal Tournament games do, but I don't know about any of the Halo, COD, or Battlefield games. Or games like Counter Strike, for that matter.

There is also the original Aliens VS Predator for PC that had a skirmish mode where you played either a colonial marine or predator and fight endless waves of aliens and Halo Reach had this as well. Although not FPS, Gears of War 2 had bots and a horde mode. This is all I could come up with when it comes to the "Arena" style fps.

Both Star Wars Battlefront games allow this- and on the 360 Battlefront II actually allows for greater numbers of "reinforcements", which can make for some really long lasting battles. Both also look noticeably better played over an HDMI connection, too.

And to build on what was said above about Black Ops 1, one reason it stands among my all time favorites is because the ENTIRE multiplayer experience is fully replicated in the 100% offline Combat Training mode, including all of the unlockable weapons and special awards/medals/designations/ect. Great practice too- if you can hold your own against a team of Veteran-level bots in combat training (without your own teammates) you excel at online play.

In Black Ops 1: "Multiplayer" -> "Local" -> "Split Screen". From that point on you can set Game Mode, Options, number of Bots (friendly & enemy), Difficulty, Select Classes, Killstreaks, etc. It will not be splitscreen if you are playing single player. I like to have 1 against 7 weak enemy bots or so (no friendly bots) and then go hog wild.

Edit: Of course Gears of War 2 and 3 allow you and a team of YOUR friends to play against the hoard. Not the same as bots, but probably the most fun multiplayer experience I've ever had with a shooter (FYI Gears is not FPS)

OK, cool stuff! What about the Battlefield games? I played through the single-player mode in the 2010 release ( the one where you're in Afghanistan), but I don't know if it had an offline mode where you could play against bots. And I'm really curious about Titanfall and Battlefield 4.

If you're still wild about Battlefield 2, check out the AIX mod. They opened up the 64player maps to its full size (no annoying you're leaving battlefield notifications anymore), added an insane amount of vehicles and provided the option to load up to 250 bots in your map

Non-player characters, also known as Bots, are a type of artificial intelligence program, with each individual instance of the program representing a player. Bot intelligence varies with difficulty and the installment of the series they appear in. For example, with the Easy difficulty, they seem untrained and are inaccurate shooters. But as difficulty progresses, they become more resilient and are accurate shooters trying to aim for headshots.

They are available offline and within online co-op game modes and can perform basic actions such as commandeering vehicles, manning machine gun emplacements and capturing control points. They will also respond to threats such as flanking gunfire, live grenades, and the occasional Commo Rose command. They are used mainly to fill teams in the singleplayer mode in Battlefield 1942, Battlefield Vietnam, Battlefield 2, Battlefield 2142 and Battlefield 2042. Bots can also be used in these games' Conquest Co-op gametype. Some maps are not available with bots, although third-party mods compatible with the first three games can add or improve the necessary pathfinding code. Beginning with Battlefield 2: Modern Combat, bots are present in the singleplayer campaign, appearing both as squadmates and as enemies. They are also featured in Battlefield: Bad Company 2's Onslaught DLC, appearing as the enemy waves.
