If the Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant didn't help, follow the steps below that are specific to your plan. You need to be connected to the internet to download this installer file, but once that's done, you can then install Microsoft 365 offline on a PC at your convenience.

To download the offline installer, go to www.office.com. If you're not already signed in with the Microsoft account associated with your copy of Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 do that now. If you're signed in with a different account, sign out of that and then sign in again with the correct Microsoft account.

Select the Microsoft 365 folder from the virtual drive and then double-click either the Setup32.exe to install the 32-bit version of Microsoft 365, or Setup64.exe to install the 64-bit version to begin the offline installation. If you're not sure which version is right for you, see Choose the 64-bit or 32-bit version of Office.

If you have a Microsoft 365 for business product you can use the Microsoft 365 Deployment Tool (ODT) to download and install Microsoft 365 or Microsoft 365 offline. The tool is designed for enterprise environments and runs from the command line, so the steps are more complicated--but they'll still work for installation on a single device.

We use the official offline installer images for manually installing Project and Visio onto users' computers that usually already have the rest of Office 365 installed. Up until a few weeks ago, this worked correctly as expected. Running the offline installer would install the app without actually downloading anything. But something changed recently, and now it always launches the downloader. Disconnecting the device from the network before running the installer just starts it in the background, and it waits until the device is reconnected before it tries downloading. We've been using the same offline installer image the whole time, but I even tried a fresh one just to be sure - same results.

I wonder if a change was pushed to the 365 apps to detect when an offline installer for an additional product is being run and to override it. Anything we can change, or is this just a new policy from Microsoft?

I have a license to install Office 365 (Home Premium) on multiple computers. Unfortunately, all I can download on the Office website is a 550KiB net-installer, i.e. one that downloads the complete package from the web and installs it right away without asking too many questions.

Another thing that is somewhat related is that the net-installer asks no questions at all, so I always get the full package with whatever default options there are. For my notebook, given its limited SSD disk space, I would rather configure this a bit, for example exclude Access and Publisher (I use these very rarely). Is this somehow possible?

I've tried the office deployment tool, saved to C:/ODT folder like suggested, went to a command line and ran setup.exe /download and get an error saying not enough space or no internet connection, the most i get is the office data folder with about 2mb of files in there. What am i missing, how can i download the installer files so i can deploy remotely?

If you want to install Microsoft 365 Apps on a single device or small number of devices, we recommend reviewing Download and install or reinstall Microsoft 365 or Office 2021 on a PC or Mac or Use the Office offline installer.

Ever since using the latest Office Deployment tool (setupodt.exe, version 16.0.13328.20356, Nov 2020) I am unable to download a complete offline installer for Office 365. The exact same process used to work perfectly for the previous version of the installer (June 2020).

I have recently setup the offline installer for Office 365 Pro Plus and I am about to test it. However I am a little bit unsure how the updates are going to work? I know about the feature updates on the semi annual channel being every 6 months but is this how you get updates as well? Or do they come through Windows Update as normal?

Does anyone know if it is possible to prepare an offline installer with language packs for Office 365 ProPlus?
I was given a task to prepare an application in Software Center with a Language Pack, so it needs to add the Language Pack on a computer that already has Office 365 installed.

For the previous versions of office this was really easy, you had separate installers for different languages, but for the C2R installer of Office 365 you need to use the Office Configuration Tool - whatever I tried, I always got a full Office package + Language Pack (2,74GB). I am looking for a solution that will create only a offline Language Pack installer, hopefully less than 100MB - I'm not sure if this is actually possible ...

The offline installer lets you download the entire 4.2GB Office package in one hit (32 and 64-bit) then install on separate machines. You still have to login to a valid Microsoft account with Office 365 license to activate the software.

But those who live under strict bandwidth limitations should look into the Office 2016 offline installer. This will let you download Office 2016 once and then install it on multiple PCs without re-downloading the 2.7 GB set of Office Setup files each time, as is normally the case.

Note that you will still need to update Office 2016, of course, so as time moves on and the offline setup gets more out-of-date, those subsequent updates will get bigger and bigger. But it will be years, I bet, before this becomes less efficient from a bandwidth perspective. (And of course, Office 2016 users can manage updates too; navigate to File, Account, Update Options in any of the main Office applications to do so.)

The Office Offline Installer will begin downloading. On Windows PCs, the installer includes both the 32-bit and 64-bit versions of Office 2016 for Windows. (Note that even those with 64-bit versions of Windows will typically want to use the 32-bit version of Office.) On a Mac, you will, of course, get Office 2016 for Mac.

On Windows, the offline installer is a single disk image (.IMG) file. Just double-click it to add this virtual disk to File Explorer. Then, you can navigate to that drive, open the disk normally, and choose the installer you want: Setup32.exe for 32-bit and Setup64.exe for 64-bit.

Can you change the default installation directory with offline installer? MS standard answer is that "click to install" will always default to the Windows install directory.
It looks like you can override in the registry, but I can't locate instructions.

Offline download is a great help but there is no difference if we perform online install or download it offline. This consumes the same time and bandwidth .The purview of us changes if installation goes faster.however most of this o
