I have not been able to discern any telltale evidence of what's causing/playing the music. No notifications, not sure where to look for log files to examine? I have MWB installed....and the phone scans clean.
I removed Apple Music from my home and re-linked and set to default music provider again. This enabled me to be able to use voice commands to play music again but I am still unable to cast from my phone. I click the cast button, select the speaker, it beeps and then.. nothing!
The good news is, I uninstalled Apple Music and reinstalled and that fixed whatever went wrong with the Apple Music app. I just wish someone had suggested that to me sooner instead of blaming Google for what was clearly an issue with the Apple Music app.
Yes there does seem to be an issue with Apple Music cast feature. Same issue casting to a Sony TV & a GoogleTV dongle. Other apps: YouTube, Spotify, vlc, YouTube TV all work properly on both. Apple music connects, then shows a spinning circle the entire time.
Yes, I have had to go thru remove/add too many times to count. It also seems like if I download too many songs from my library to the device (Sam S21 ultra), the app then has issues playing songs. I've tried deleting cache, force stop, etc. Only fix seems to be complete uninstall & install fresh. Rediculous.
I also uninstalled/reinstalled and it fixed the problem (for now, it seems). I was trying to Cast to my Nest hub. I also aggressively cache music on the phone for offline play, so we'll see if downloading my big playlist coincides with future problems.
Note: Some music providers, like Spotify, require a subscription to play music from its Chromecast-enabled app. Also, YouTube content is only supported from the YouTube Music app (not the YouTube app), and you must have a YouTube Premium account. YouTube Music is only available in the US and Australia.
Hey guys i recently got control4 installed into my house for music and i want to play music through youtube how can do that right now i can play radio is there anywhere i could play music through a android phone please help thanks
It's ridiculous that Control4 does not come with inbuilt support for fundamental features like Google Cast and built-in Alexa/Google Assistant/Siri integration (i.e. without having to rely on Echo devices).

While I see the value in those features the vast majority of Control4 projects still do not use voice control (likely not the case for end users here but end users here do not accurately reflect the average user). Having that built into the hardware increases cost so it's likely deemed not worth it at this point. It also would require the companies you mentioned being willing to play ball, which some are more than others. It also then opens up the privacy conversation which is an entirely different can of worms.
Me too, but this particular one toke me a while to find, they all where sealed in their plastics, had to find the one, install batteries, aim at the device and wipe it clean and it did toke some time ... In My Rack I have a 2u drawer that have all the devices in the rack, this one was local in my Livingroom ...
i have been using the VSSL amps with this functionality built in , but it would be a lot better if control4 would implement it on their amps or matrix switches as there are a few minor glitches with VSSL/C4 functionality. I agree that this is a major oversight on C4s part
Yeah audio casting similar to shairbridge would be great considering how many android users there are. I will say if you have an audio matrix, distributed video with downmixing and Chromecast Video device you can set the chromecast zones as audio and then cast to that using a standard video chromecast not chromecast audio.
@jpdthunder Bubbleupnp will play to one speaker and then as @Airgetlam suggests you can use the Sonos app to group the playing speaker with other Sonos devices. I have just checked with the free version on my phone.
But to deactivate base functionality for accessing local music on android devices camouflaged by a service update is outrageous. The reason mentioned "cause of possible problems with android system updates" is ridiculous. With same reason, apple devices need to be cut off with any further apple iOS update.
Samsung, YouTube: many users bought a system open to Android (as I did) without restrictions to particular brands. Moreover Youtube is an additional, commercial service which isn't necessary for local hosted music at all.
The device can't been in Banshee or Rhythmbox.(A few hours ago it was visible in Rhythmbox, but attempts to transfer files yielded errors. From what I remember the errors said "device not available for writing)
Is this possible? If I google for these errors I see issues going back many years and get the impression that managing an android device from ubuntu is simply impossible for a user without linux system administration skills.
On Android, pull down your top bar after connecting the phone. You will see a notification "USB charging this device". Tap that and you will see that it defaults to only charging your device. Thus, you can, by default, not mount the drive. Tap "transfer files" on your Android phone to have it mounted in your file manager. To unmount it, you can use the same screen on your Android phone, or use Files.
When I go to select the music folder, the file menu doesn't allow any navigation. Using the "Enable" button does nothing. I've manually changed the permission on the storage to "allowed" but still no luck. Have had the same issue with (1) v3-build853-arm64-play [853004-ea856f2] from the Play Store; (2) latest v3-853 build from the download page here and (3) the older v3-841 build from the download page here. If I select a music file in the file explorer, Poweramp will play it, but the song won't be included in the library thereafter.
I see this sometimes on individual folders on my SD card. Sometimes when I copy an album (folder) from my PC to the phone using a USB cable and then do a scan the new album is not added. If I then go to file manager on the phone and click a song in the new album (folder) it plays in Poweramp, but the track counter shows --/--. Sometimes if I do a restart on the phone then do a scan the new album (folder) is found and added. On one occasion I ended up shutting down the phone removing the SD card and reinstalling the card fixed it.
That is most likely to be that the new folder has not being flagged as new/modified in the Android file system for some reason, so PA is not seeing it as something it needs to check. A Full Rescan should solve that without resorting to reinserting the SD Card.
You device firmware is missing critical system component. Granted not all apps out there use it, but Poweramp does (and all Play apps will be required to do so in 2020), so I recommend fixing the issue with your system first.
The issue is described in the details in this and linked posts. That Files by Google app contains that (updated) dialog and have all intent filters for it. If you installed it and no dialog still appears in Poweramp music folders selection, something blocks it. You may have some luck capturing and posting log right after you try the dialog. The issue is outside Poweramp app scope and support, but I glad to help.
Hello, I found a fix for the issue described here. Installing the Files by Google app didn't fix it, but installing the DocumentsUI app did. I'm not an Android expert by any means, but I'm guessing it's needed if your device is running an older Android version (in my case it was an Atoto head unit running Android 10).
Usually with a music app, the music player will show up on your lock screen allowing basic controls. It'll show up for me when I first turn my phone on, but after that it goes away and doesn't come back. I already checked my lock screen and notification settings, I feel like this is tied to whatever bug is fading out the skip and repeat buttons too. Please look into it, I relied heavily on this feature and I'll probably go back to Amazon or Spotify if it doesn't get fixed.
So I finally broke down n paid for Pandora premium and now Pandora won't show up on my lock screen like it did in the free version. Is there a way to fix this? I'm really enjoying the unlimited skips and no ads.
When Pandora is playing I see the basic controls on my lock screen. If I pause it and the screen times out, it won't bring back the controls. It just disappears entirely. Is there a way to keep it active on the lock screen without having to unlock my phone to resume play?
Seriously is there an update on this bug. It's very annoying to have to unlock the phone and open the app skip or repeat a song. Please don't recommend the trouble shooting options, been there, done that, and it doesn't work. Maybe instead of giving the same poor response get the engineers to do their jobs and fix the bug!
Hey, same issue... No music controls on my lock screen... I have to unlock my phone and swipe down the status bar to skip songs.. I have completed all the recommended steps and still not working.. I have android 11 LG v60
Yay!! I fixed mine!! So.. I completely disabled all notifications in the app settings.. Force stopped the app, cleared the cache, then re-enabled all notifications ... And now I have my control widget... Hope this helps others
