However, the headset doesn't work while connected to the sound blaster Accessible Audio Control Module (ACM) or front panel (while when booting with Windows 7 it does). I found some issues reported on this before back in 2018 but I expected all those patches to have gone mainstream by now or? I run the following and see that in my installation the rev 01 is the same old as in those 2018 posts I found online. What can I do to get the latest versions and patches? is there a solution for this?

I bench tested this card recently and managed to get the ACM to work after reading some Reddit posts. What you need to do is go to the shell and open up alsamixer. Select your Sound Blaster card and change the output to "headphones." If you listen carefully you'll hear an audible click-noise from the sound card, and the ACM headphone jack will magically come to life. Your stereo and/or surround sound speakers will fall silent.

I'm no expert when it comes to HiFi, but I think the clicking noise is actually a mechanical-relay switch that physically transfers the channel to the ACM's headphone jack; probably a choice by Creative's engineers to minimize any possible feedback interference from other connected speakers.

All that said, I could be completely wrong. Regardless, from my own recent testing of the ZxR, it seems like it's a great product minus the hiccup with the headphone jack. Sound is crystal clear with hardly any background hiss. I've decided to keep mine and install it on my main PC once I've upgraded it to Ubuntu 20.04. Good luck with yours!

In case you can not find an "Headphones" option in alsamixer after selecting sound card, go to the right till you find < Output Select >, press up to select Headphone. Now the sound should be coming from your headphones and not from Line out.

Hello everyone. I understand some of us still enjoy using the World of Warcraft Headset wireless or otherwise, but those of us who have had issues search for a solution and come up with nothing. The help from customer support is useless, nothing on the wow forums, and not even on other forum sites or the creative support manual.

Recently, I bought a wireless wow sound blaster headset for World Of Warcraft. I enjoy the voice fx and whatnot. After 2 days the devices mic and LED lights had stopped working and the only thing that would work was the sound.

Enter in the addition security check, and then download and run it from internet explorer, not chrome (Chrome causes files to open in a different manner than internet explorer, and can cause problems, for example the google chrome page might store it into its own location where as internet explorer doesnt and allows you to run the program directly from explorer, though I prefer using chrome for browsing.) Once open just let it run and automatically installed.

Hello,
I am having trouble installing Zorin Pro 17 OS on a new build computer. It has an Aorus motherboard. I have tried Baletcher, Rufus and now Ventoy. In all cases I get the option to install Zorin (I have tried all options regular, safe mode, Nvidia. After the file checks, I get a screen with the Aorus motheboard icon and a Zorin Z that flashes for about a minute. After the flashing, it stays steady on... for hours. Any thoughts?

Hi Storm, thank you for responding. I had not disabled secure boot. Fast boot was disabled. Sadly, I am getting the same results. I pass all the file checks and then the screen is stuck with the Zorin logo. I appreciate the help. If you have any thoughts, I would greatly appreciate them. I am pretty new to Linux.

Hi Ponce-De-Leon, I am having difficulty getting any of the iso applications to allow me to switch to FAT32. I have tried Ventoy, Rufus and Balena Etcher and USB Imager. Ventoy seemed to have the most hope in that it would format my USB to FAT32, but then when I tried to copy the ISO file to it, I got an error stating that there was not enough disc space even though the disc properties showed more than enough space.

There has been quite a scandal in USB Sticks that manufacturers were building a certain size USB Stick, but programming it to read as larger. The buyer would not find out unless they exceeded the actual size of the stick. Whicvh many people don't, at least not right away.
I will point out that PNY, SanDisk and other major brands never did this.
But many off-brands did.

What Brand is your Stick?
How much GB's has the Stick?
Do you cleaned the Stick before formated him?
Do You have other Sticks that you could use?
Do You have only a Linux System or do You have the Possibility to use a Windows System?

Hello,
I have used 2 SanDisk USBs. One is 128 GB and the other is 256 GB. I used both with Balena Etcher and Rufus with no memory size issue. The memory issue occurs with using Ventoy which says there is not enough memory. When I use any of the other ISO copying utilities, I have no problem copying the ISO. However, for some reason none of the other utilities allow me to select FAT32.

I do have some news and partial success. I removed the Creative Sound Blaster AE-7 Hi-Res Internal PCIe Sound Card and was able to complete the boot AND load Zorin!! I may be going in the wrong direction, but I am going to try a larger power supply unit. Current build is a Silverstone 550W 80 plus gold. The Ausus motherboard states that it needs 500W to meet expansion requirements. 550 does not supply a lot of margin. I will have a new power supply in before the weekend. I will post results so that everyone has an opportunity to learn from my experience.

I provided my system specs in a reply to Storm a couple days ago. The motherboard, and Aorus B760 Elite claims that it needs 500 Watts of power. My power supply is a 550 Watt power supply which is about 10% margin. I am worried that it does not have enough margin for a power surge, say at start up. It works pretty good with the sound blaster card removed, but even so, as I was running Zorin and trying to get used to it, there were 2 incidents where the screen went blank for a fraction of a second. I am open to other ideas.

You are wise to use a Power Supply with ample margin of wattage output. PSU's used to be the weakest link in PC builds. Computer stores used to stock loads of them as they were more or less regarded as consumables. It is best to go big and run them unstressed and cool than hot and bothered if you want to keep them alive and well.

I received the new power supply, 750 watts and it runs very cool and silent. It is a nice upgrade... but still the system will not go to boot with the Sound Blaster card installed. I tried moving it to another slot to see if possible there was an issue with the slot. My next thought is to see if I can figure out how to update the BIOS. I am open to other thoughts. I do not think that this is a driver issue because it will not even go to boot mode so it does not even know what operating system or drivers are installed. I will follow up when I have researched updating BIOS.

Creative used to be a big player in audio industy back in 2010s. There had decent foot hold with their budget speakers, IEMs, headphones and some high quality audio equipment. These equipment were spread out between a handful of categories. Their sound blaster series though was meant for audiophiles like us. Initially Creative had associated Sound Blaster moniker with their desktop PC internal sound cards. They were high quality but were intriguing to gamer and producers more than audio enthusiasts. These cards are still available but the lineup has expanded. They have launched both personal and desktop grade products. Their E and G series were high quality desktop DAC/Amps. While the G series is newer it is more focused on high res audio for gamer but the older E5 had BT and can be used with both mobile phones laptops. Their X series though are desktop only products and who can forget their legendary X7 with its hexagonal design.

The X5 has a fairly simple packaging and opening the box is not complicated. The DAC/amp is stuffed in foam pads. The list of accessories includes a USB A to C cable, an optical toslink cable and a RCA to 3.5mm cable. There is no external BT antenna either.

The front of the X5 houses the Power button, volume knob, MIC gain knob, all the headphone jacks, BT pairing button which resets the BT connection, display switch to navigate options, a gain switch which lets us choose between high and normal gain modes, an headphone or speaker output switch and a DSP button. One sad news is, unlike some DAC/Amps both SE and balanced out cannot be used simultaneously so is this a fully balanced AMP? The back has a Type C USB ports that works as the power source and DATA in if connected with PC or supported mobile phones. I do not like this because we it limits the usability a bit. Along with that we get both RCA and optical in and out options too. Optical is mostly for consoles. We get USB host options too to use it with microphones and speakers.

Along with the top end DAC chip the X5 sports their own acoustic engine and AISO 2.2 playback and recording over USB and S/PDIF. The built-in amp offers a dynamic range of 130dB, and excellent THD of -115 db. With an output impedance of just 1 ohm this is perfect for both IEMs and headphones.

I already have a dongles with the exactly same chip. It is one of the cleanest and most vivid sounding chip in the market. Tonality, imaging and emphasis are mostly about the amp and other components used and the X5 their own amp which delivers excellent transparency and clarity. I have been working around a DAC/AMPs and this thing really leaves a smile on my face. After working on the Playmate I was not sure what this DAC/AMP is capable of but I am surprised.

The TR-Amp with its flagship grade components deliver top notch notes presentation. It out performs its asking price. The tuning is well balanced without emphasizing any part of the spectrum. The tonality and timber are as slightly organic yet crispy and cleaner. In fact this is one of the most neat and clean sounding device I have heard. Pair it with anything and one does not need to worry about details, air or resolution.
