I am working to set up a 0.9.2 server with a dedicated database under
MySQL on another server, and am running into difficulties with the
hostname being misread to be the database name as well. When I use the
FQDN of the MySQL server as the hostname, I get:
Couldn't create database: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check
the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right
syntax to use near '.[domain].net' at line 1 (this may not be a
problem if you've already created the database).
If I delete '.[domain].net', then the error changes:
Couldn't create database: Access denied for user 'poll_user'@'%' to
database '[hostname]' (this may not be a problem if you've already
created the database).
I've presently used a workaround my system administrator offered,
namely a DNS alias where the name of the database points to the
server, and then it works. But this looks like a bug.
