Hmm.. patching from .29 broke pose and emit. I just re-patched up from
my last backup of src (.26) and replicated it again ... .26, .27 .28 and
.29 worked fine, .30 no pose or emit. Ubuntu, the latest (not that it
should matter).

If you made changes to the hardcode at some point along the way, it is possible that in the application of a patch, there was a conflicting hunk. That may have reached the point where it affected pose and emit in the latest patch.

But, I've looked at the latest patch, and I don't see how any of the changes are related to or could affect pose or emit.

The quickest way to get this working is probably to download the tarball and either export the game to that, or if you know that you've made changes, diff between the two sources and try to fix the messed up parts.
