How or where do I set my Screen Saver?

Install "xscreensaver" in Synaptic. Next, since I don't use screensaver myself, I guess a Google search would be the best way to get information on setting it up. You can run this command in a terminal and see if it gives you any more help:

xscreensaver --help

Thank You.  It is installed and works well.

BTW what do I use to put an application I install with synaptic onto the panel when I click on the button at the lower left corner of the screen.   ...Like mainmenu etc.  I think it is panel or something.

You have to edit -as root- the .desktop file for it found in /usr/share/applications. The "Categories" line should be adjusted. Look at other .desktop files that do show up to see how it's done.
