Can you do significant figures on the TI-Nspire? I'm thinking that
there might be a menu option or setting that will have the Nspire work
like the SciTools App on the TI-84.

Maybe someone has created a document?

Thanks!

I think what you want is under settings.
home>5: settings>settings>then you have a choice whic page(s) you want to apply the settings to and if you want them to be the default.

The start of a new school year is a good time to post another comment about settings…

General Settings refers to the active document (all problems, all pages except Graphs & Geometry).

Graphs & Geometry (one and the same app but with different views) has its own settings, in particular for angles: the default is radians for Graphing view and degrees for Geometry view.

On the bottom of the settings dialogs there’s a button to ‘Make default’ which, when clicked, means that any new documents created henceforth will use these settings. Previous documents or documents taken from elsewhere have their own settings and are not affected by any settings changes until they are opened and their settings changed.

ScratchPad uses ‘default’ settings, not any document’s settings, so be careful: the document you are using might have degrees set, but the scratchpad could use radians.

I think a useful function/program to have would be settings() that would display all the current settings in English (or your language). This would be pretty easy to write, I think, since the getMode() command is in the Program Editor menu but translating a number to words will be annoying at best. Has anyone written one? I think you can only get general settings, not G&G.

“Sig Figs” is a different story to a science teacher. The display digits settings do not tell the story of significant figures.
