I don"t want to have to buy a financial calc. I want to use my Ti nspire. My classmates are beating me to the answers because i am calculating through the equations.  I know i can use the spreadsheet function but I really want to use financial keys to compare speed.   Please show me where the keys are located if there are any.  Or help show me how to create these keys if they do not exist.

Example of keys on a  Financial Calculator:

N    I/Y    PMT   FV   PV

Thanks for your help.

In the Calculator app press <menu> and locate the Finance tools. Use the Solver to computer TVM values. Pretty powerful stuff in there and it’s all compatible with the rest of the TI-Nspire apps through the use of the resulting variables such as tvm.pmt.

Another approach to TVM would be to create three global one-line-functions in a library file. Only need to add each formula once instead of calculating each time. See my youtube Video TI-nspire Global Functions for how to add global functions. The picture above shows it being created in MyLib folder under the library name "vols" and then called from the scratchpad. I was creating some practice libraries for a volumes in an eBook I am working on, thus the name of library file as "vols". Might want to call it something like "fin", Using something short if you want to type them: fin\cpint, fin\loan or fin\ira. Add the parenthesis and parameters you know with x being the one you are looking for. Can use catalog to find if give the file a name such as adv_financeCAS: adv_financeCAS\cpiint, adv_financeCAS\loan or adv_financeCAS\ira.

Add cpint and ira functions as one-line global LibPub functions on the same page as loan. Function order on page is not important. Refresh the libraries and type the path or call them up using ctalog. Add parameters with x being in the position of the one you looking for. Chapter 1 video and TI-Nspire Scientific Notation Program video show more examples of one-line global functions. On the Numerical CX you would need to add the functions solved in reverse. my Post in Hour of Programming for writing one-line-global-functions shows how we can use them on the Numerical CX model.

The only advantage to doing them yourself is to help you understand what is happening plus this technique works with any formulas you want to add.

If you want written explanation see my eBook at Amazon or complete Chapter 1 and Chapter 5 samples at ComputerLearningService.com
