Are you running it in WINE? I assume so since there is no native Linux version of TI-Nspire.

I know that while you may be able to get the software running in Wine, you will not be able to get peripherals talking to it - especially contact with USB connections.

no.. i often reboot to windows to do ti stuff.

=( ti should be more linux friendly (it works already on macos, its java, would be almost painless do that).

I am also a linux user, exclusively, so this is one area of fruatration to me. I  not about to break down and buy windows after being windows free for more than ten years.

Its a shame that there is no native version to run with Linux. I have the same problem running the link program under wine. Is there a way to load the usb driver into the Linux kernal in driver emulation mode?

If you want to try third-party software for linking to the Nspire, use
TiLP. I'm not sure how good it is at Nspire communication, but it's
pretty much the only program of its kind for Linux.

Nspire support in TILP has been rather reliable on Linux for more than
one year. I routinely use it for the main operations: list files,
upgrade and downgrade the OS (which I do a lot), transfer files from and
to the calculator, get screenshots.
For completeness' sake, let's mention that nested folders don't work -
but they're seldom used, at least in the open development community.

The only Linux distro providing up to date packages for libti*, gfm and
tilp is Arch Linux. Debian derivatives provide severely outdated
packages (which predate Nspire communication reliability on Linux and
Nspire OS 2.x support, so they probably wouldn't be useful to you
anyway), and other distros do not package them.

Like any program that the distro does not provide under package form,
you'll have to compile it yourself, preferably using the helper script:
http://lpg.ticalc.org/prj_tilp/download/install_tilp.sh .
The script has been successfully used by dozens of persons on a variety
of Linux distros, provided they installed the build dependencies (listed
within the script) _before_ trying to mindlessly run the script.

Hope that this helps,
Lionel.
