Hi all,

I'm getting an error while trying to update the OS on a student's CAS
handheld. I want to update a version 1.1 handheld (yes, it's old) to
version 3.0. My calc appears to send the OS just fine (I see the send
progress bar). When it reaches 100% sent, it shows an error message -
'Upgrade not accepted by receiver.'

I've tried it several times using a couple different 'from'
calculators. Still no luck.
I also tried the ole Home-Enter-P-ON combo...but that doesn't seem to
work in this old OS (1.1).

Any ideas how to resolve?

Thanks in advance.

Try upgrading to 1.7 first, then to 3.0. If you need 1.7 please contact me
off-list.

Follow the instructions from: http://education.ti.com/calculators/downloads/US/Software/Find-OS

First download OS1.7 then upgrade to 3.1...

OS version 1.3 or earlier:

Download TI-Nspire™ OS version 1.7 and update your TI-Nspire™ handheld with Clickpad using either TI-Nspire Student or Teacher Software.

After TI-Nspire™ OS version 1.7 is installed, you may update your handheld to OS version 3.0.2. To load OS version 3.0, you will need 12MB free space on your handheld. To free space, please delete or transfer files to a computer.

You need to update to the 2.0 OS first and then to the new one. There are instructions on the internet at education.ti.com.

Upon each OS install, be sure to remove the "boot2" using the TNOC tool:
http://tiplanet.org/forum/archives_voir.php?id=1922&play=

Not only this saves space and transfer time, but also, should you decide
to use an older OS version in the future, you'll be able to do so easily
as long as you don't upgrade the boot2 past version 1.4.

You cannot upgrade directly from 1.1 to 3.0. You need an intermediate step...I think 2.7 is the only middle step you need.

OSes 1.1 to 1.3 cannot be upated directly to 2.1 and above.

You first need to update to any OS between 1.4 and 2.0.1.

Then you can upate to 2.1 and above.

Ah.  I thought I might be missing a step.  Thanks.

Removing boot2 when installing 1.7 makes the 1.7 install completely
pointless, as you still won't be able to install 3.0/3.1. However, I
agree that using TNOC when installing 3.0/3.1 is a good idea.

If the calculator running OS 1.1 was not running boot2 1.4 yet, indeed.
Thanks for correcting me, I should have been less concise and more
precise :)

Once boot2 1.4 is installed, any version of the OS can (and should !) be
stripped from the boot2.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm getting the same error when I try to
update OS to 1.7.
After the 'from' calculator (running OS 1.7) reaches 100% on transfer,
I get the message 'Upgrade not accepted by receiver.'

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Jon
