I am trying to create a box plot from two lists, with the second being frequency.  I have tried this with a summary plot, in which case I am not seeing the first quartile, and I tried it with a data & stats page, which I think disallows freq lists.  I'm sure I am missing something really simple but I've frustrated enough to ask for help:)

Add a D&S page.  Right Click (ctrl Menu) where the x variable goes, select Add X Variable with Summary List (I couldn't find this option on the regular menu).  You will be presented with a box to select the data variable and freq variable.  You will get a histogram.  Now go to the Menu -> Plot Type and select Box plot.

Dennis, you are awesome, thank you!

Can you tell me the difference between using a summary plot  for histograms and box plots vs inserting a D&S page?

There really isn't a difference, I just never do those Quick Graph commands from a L&S page (in earlier versions, there was a difference between what you could accomplish on a D&S page and the Quick Graphs, now they are pretty close if not the same), I'd rather have the full page to display the graph.  I was able to change the summary plot using the data and frequency lists from a histogram to a box plot.  I re-read your original post and I'm wondering if your only concern was that you couldn't see the first quartile?  If so, perhaps it is because it was on the split page and the min and Q1 were so close that because of the scale you couldn't see the difference (another reason that I like a full page for graphs).  Note: If you have 25% of the data at the minimum, then Min and Q1 will be the same.

Dennis
