I use nspire for many kinds of calculations and I prefer to not have to change settings all the time, so is there a short-cut to input degree, minutes, seconds?

Currently I just do something like the following:

cos (28+17/60+30/3600)

It is obviously not a real issue of any kind, more or less for convenience for when I have to scroll back up through my work to check my inputs. It would be nicer to see:

cos(2817’30”).

Off my own topic: has anyone published a better one stop book than the Dummy Book?

Thank you.

I hear you about not wanting to change the settings unless you have to.

You know about the Math Template button, the one next to the book (Catalog)? It has an absolute value symbol and what may be a piecewise function symbol. If you press that, right next to the absolute value is just the thing you are looking for. The beauty of this is that the next time you press that button your 'cursor' is still on the same template. For tips of what all those templates are for, I would recommend pressing the Catalog and looking for the same icon at the top. Press that number. It will be either 4 or 5 (if you use CAS).

Regarding the book. I wonder what you mean by better than the Dummy book? Are you looking for something more detailed or do you mean something that is updated for the 3.0 Operating System?  It seems likely that there will be some quality updated material.

Have you read the guidebooks? http://education.ti.com/calculators/downloads/US/Guidebooks/Search/

So, I guess  Iooked in almost all the right places.

The catalog button is the way to go. Took that operation down to 2 clicks.

Thanks for that tip. Aside from the method I showed below, i was also wasting time with the ?!> key to the right of the G on the CAS' keypad. That was a pain in the butt.

Regarding books: I guess I am used to text book style books. Most of the guides (that I have looked at so far) look too much like reference manuals.Reference manuals have their purpose, but a book of applications and key strokes is more what I am after (college student). Most of the time I figure out proper input but sometimes it is a pain in the brain.

Thanks again for the reminder of the Catalog  Button. I forgot about the forest for the trees in this case.
