anyone who tells you he (or she) is beta-testing (or alpha or gamma or
delta) a new Nspire OS is not to be trusted.

I received this email yesterday, July 1st, from TI:

It’s coming in just two weeks. And you can download it for free. TI-Nspire and TI-Nspire CAS Teacher Software version 2.1 make class prep and management a lot easier. Quickly locate the latest classroom-ready lessons right in the newContent Workspace.

Stumbled across this page about TI-Nspire 2.1, on the TI website that
might be of interest to some:
http://education.ti.com/educationportal/sites/US/homePage/nspire-software-os.html

Cheers,
Andy

I know this is off topic, but I have been requested to forward this idea to anyone who might be interested.  Eileen S (who used to work for TI but now is doing stuff for the the Mobie company out of DC - I think a lot of you know who I am talking about) sent me the wonderful idea of getting some work through the website www.tutor.com  and I have been working with them for some time now.  It has been a great opportunity to work with students online doing math!  The website allows students to get tutoring (and not just answers) from professional people who actually know their subject matters.

Well the long and short of it is, they are going to be hiring over 100 new tutors this fall.  The application process is long, involves many HARD subject matter tests, and numerous steps in order to make sure they get great tutors that want to teach, not to help students cheat!  While the process is long, it is well worth it.  You get paid $10-15 per hour (not that great) but its a decent "part-time" job.  Plus they tutor 24 hours a day, so some of our foreign friends might be interested in this.  They are really looking for people in the following subject matters

·         Math Subjects

o   Algebra 2

o   Geometry

o   Trigonometry

o   Calculus

o   Statistics

·         Science Subjects

o   Earth Science

o   Biology

o   Chemistry

o   Physics

·         Humanities

o   English and essay writing tutors who can tutor on Sundays and between the hours of midnight and 3:00 AM Eastern time.

If you are at all interested, please email me privately, it would be really cool to see a few people try this out.  BTW, they do have the ti-84 emulator, and if more of us ask, maybe the Nspire on line so thats kinda nice for demonstrating!

Let me know if you are interested!

Jessica,

Why do you constantly change topic threads instead of creating your
own? Just wondering as several times I'm looking for a thread, only
to see you changed it to something COMPLETELY unrelated.

I thought she did create her own thread for that one. Did I miss something?...

Nope. She switched this one from the "OS 2.1" thread.

Jessica,

I would be interested.  I teach as a math adjunct at USC Upstate in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  My students might like to take advantage of this, so I could pass along the URL in class.

Sincerely,
O. Dale Saylor

CAN YOU PEOPLE SERIOUSLY MAKE A NEW DISCUSSION ABOUT YOUR TUTOR THING.
STOP CHANGING THE TOPIC! IT'S MAKING EVERYTHING UNORGANIZED!

I had to put that in capital letters so it would stand out.

please don't use uppercase. It looks like you're shouting and it's hard to read.

thanks.

Jess:

Are you posting this because tutor.com pays you a $25/person finder
fee for everyone you recruit?
Otherwise you'd just tell us to go to tutor.com and click on the link
at the bottom of the page that says "become a tutor."

btw, I'm not opposed to you earning money off of us. I'd just like it
better if you were up front about it.

oh, and while I have your attention, please stop changing the subject
of existing threads (this is the fourth or fifth time you've done it
that I noticed). thank you.

my discovery: when you click [reply] up there where the topic is
changed, it switches the thread to that topic again.

Sir or Madam,

I am not sure who you are so I apologize for the poor introduction! However, last week I received an email asking me to let people I know that there was this opportunity.  Given that, I thought I would be nice ans share with a lot of people I personally know that are on this list that might be interested in the opportunity.  I tried to keep the email short and I tried to inform you ahead of time that it was off topiuc.  However, you seem to be having a problem with this.  I apologize for wasting your time.  I did not know there was some sort of finders fee, I was just trying to let people know that there was a newer way to assist our students understand math.  This opportunity has been a god send to me since I recently left a school district that was very toxic and this has helped during a financial crunch (the money I have earned by being a tutor, not as some sort of finders fee!)  I thought others might be interested given the financial times we are all in.  If you are not interested, ignore the posts.  Erase the message and go on with your life!

As for creating a new thread, I apologize not posting according to your requirements, you already stated your point on this.  I sit absolutely necessary to waste every bodies time again?

In addition, I would also like to apoligize to list for having to get this message!

Finally, I want to apologize for whoever peed in your cherrios this morning, but it wasn't me so get over it!
