publishview document player issue

[Jessica Kachur]

 I made the attached publish view document and copied a link for the students to use it.  they are all signed in, however they can't write in any of the question boxes on the document player?

Any ideas?

You’re right, Jess… Keyboard is disabled in the doc player.

That makes no sense!  It makes the use of the doc player almost useless!

I'm not sure it is that clear cut in either direction.

 

I feel that keyboard access on Question Templates and Graphs/Geometry (and Lua) could be enabled without significantly reducing the need for the software to do anything substantial...  This would (in my opinion) strike a more appropriate balance of access...

actually, i thought one of the reasons for the doc player was to allow students without an inspire to use some of the technology.  You can't do calculations, but you should be able to type answers to teacher posed questions.  you can answer multiple choice questions!

The Document player has a CAS, IIRC, so that the lua script can run math stuff.

But I haven't used the doc player for a while so it could have changed since.

whats really frustrating si when you try something new, and you have tested just about every component before bringing it in front of students, and yet you bring it to them and you look like a complete idiot because they can't even put their name on the work they are going to print out to hand in.  Let alone the fact that I can't seem to figure out how they could save their work and send it to me electronically.

I apologize for my crabbiness today, been a long horrendous weekend and then this has pushed me over the top!

Don't feel here on that subject, because you're not the first and not the last, to think that the doc player is not as it should be. 

For example, I worked hard at the beginning in order to make one of my project completly compatible with the doc player. It is a painfull task and shouldn't be possible the way that the doc player has been thought ("don't allow keyboard entry").

On the software, in the insert menu, select image. You can insert in a notes, data and statistics, graphs page or geometry page.
