Can someone help me, what is the basic difference between the NspireCAS and tge Nspire CAS CX?

If a student is buying a CAS should they just spend 16 dollars more and get the CX.

Any ideas would by appreciated !!

I think it's just the colour screen and the slimmer design.  It only has the rechargeable battery which makes it slimmer.  All the other improvements which came out with the CX are part of the 3.0 OS.

Also more storage (can't remember the exact figures but I have a feeling it was about an extra 50MB).  But in general I think the extra $16 is very well spent!

Also the backlit screen- so much easier to read.

Batteries alone will cost you more than $16 in the long run. And the slim design is very nice. Color and the back lit screen are awesome! Definitely go with the CX!

Thanks for the opinions/info on the CAS vs CAS CX.  Does anybody know about the navigator and howit is differnent for them? I know they take a different cradle but are the two compatible on the navigator?

Thanks

Both work the same the only difference is the non-CX handheld cannot use the newer 'yellow hat' wifi module…  the newer CX can use both the 'yellow hat' and the older cradle.

Yes, all TI-Nspires will work in the same Navigator network. On a CX you can use either a yellow CX ‘hat’ (network adapter) or a Navigator Cradle as on the other TI-Nspires. The teacher is in charge of the network adapters, not the students.

No.  Since there are no AA batteries to replace, the faceplate does not come off, and that space has been repurposed to make the slimmer model.

The old sleds are chargeaable, heavier, take up more space in charging bay....   the new yellow adaptors do not hold the charge, super light.

I think the yellow hats would be good for a class set since all calcs would be re-charged every night in their charging bay.
Are yellow hats cheaper?  Are they purchaseable per unit?

Sadly they are not purchasable individually. 5 is the minimum. I tried last week.  :(

Underwood Distributing sells single hats for the CX. I bought one
recently for 79.95 plus shipping. They take a 5 pack and split it
apart.
