If I bring up the Scratchpad Graph and hit <tab> to view or enter a
function, there is a function (y=1000) right above the [f1(x) = ]
function. Normally, you can simply remove a function by <ctrl><del>
followed by <enter> (or hit <del> until there's nothing after the =
and press <enter>). But that doesn't work for this function.

How can I delete/remove this function so it's not always in my defined
list?

Thank you for your attention. :)

Have you tried "Clear Scratchpad" from the Scratchpad menu at the top of the
Scratchpad?

I could not create a function y=1000. I get the error message "Reserved
Name". I could make an inequality, but not an 'equality'.

and when you have an inequality you have to click on the graphic
representation itself and press backspace to delete it, I think
deleting the definition from the entry line won't do.

That did it.

I got the same error you got (Reserved Name) when I would try to
delete or redefine it, that's what prompted me to post this question.
I'm not sure how I set it in the first place.

Thanks for taking the time to respond. :)

If you didn't want any other graphs on the Scratchpad, you could also just press delete (del on the Touchpad or the backspace arrow on the Clickpad) three times. It will ask if you are sure about the decision.

Another idea would be to change y=1000 to y=1 and then click the line and press del.
If you can see it, you can delete it. But you are right, removing the text does not remove it. I wonder if this has something to do with the inter-connectivity of the applications. You can redefine, but not un-define it there.

A y=2 or any other number can be created by entering text like 2 and then carrying it to an axis. Similarly you can carry any other text that could be a function to the axis and it will automatically be graphed.

This particular feature doesn't work on the Scratchpad.

....because "Text" is not in the Action menu (or right click)

Really, it works on the software's Scratchpad, as I tested it out before saying it. Then I just did it on a handheld. 'Text' is under the menu and with right-click on my 2.1 Nspire CAS software and handheld.

Text works, but dragging it to the axis won't graph it - at least it didn't when I tried earlier.

oops, I was on the calc of scratchpad...of course I would not see 'text'  Hello!!!
anyway, dragging works, too.

I figured out why dragging the text to an axis didn't work for me earlier, and this reveals a limitation that until now I wasn't aware of.  If the graph of the desired function will not show up in the current window, then dragging its expression to an axis will not generate the function.

hmmmm... makes some sense. Between the text simply disappearing and
the user not knowing what happened because the function isn't visible
or not doing nothing it's a tough call.
