Anyone want to share some of their favorite things or resources from the recent T3 in Dallas?
I had an amazingly delightful time and enjoyed all of the sessions. Saving Bluey with balloons and drones was fun!
I was encouraged by several Building Thinking Classroom workshops. Even the closing session with Howie Hua got us out of our seats and we got 4 corners modeled on a grand scale - make arguments about which is better fractions, decimals, percents, ratios and convince the person in the middle.
At the beginning of my session I asked participants how they engage students (especially at the beginning of class)
I wish we had time for more of them to explain to the group, like what is "Human Stopwatch", but most of them I understand
- notice and wonder
- which one doesn't belong (aka which 3 go together)
- videos
- songs
- student(s) BYO joke
- Logic puzzles
- demos to challenge thinking/understanding (science teacher love this one)
- 2 truths and a lie
- how many ways can you solve this problem?
- TI-Nspire QP bell ringers
- Put your head down and pick it up as close to 30 seconds as you can. Maybe the winner gets a prize. (Can you take attendance in 30 seconds)
And f you didn't make it to the conference, feel free to share some of your favorite ways to start class
Thanks,
