A teacher came to me today with a handheld in which a student had
saved a file with an inappropriate file name. I was able to help her
delete the file so that the folder is empty and it no longer shows up
in My Docs. However, the file name is still showing in "Recent" files
on the home screen. Anyone know how to clear that??

Thanks,
Katie

Pressing the reset on the back will take care of that.

I'd already deleted all of the files (using steps outlined above from
Ray), but the "Recent" files were still displaying the unwanted file
name as options when you hovered over them. Resetting the handheld
did take care of that piece of the problem. So, it seems you would
need to first delete all files, then reset the handheld. Thanks for
the help,
Katie

That is surprising.
I tried it again. Transferred a file, opened it, opened a different file, then deleted all files.
There was NOTHING under recent...it wasn't even an option!!

Anyway, glad you got the problem solved

Maybe another way would be to cycle it through by opening other documents.
I think the limit is 5.

The best option (I assume) is to open couples of other files and that recent (###) name will go off...

I've found a better one: if the document is already deleted yet still shows its name in "Recent", simply select it. The hh will return erro message "Unable to access Document1. The file may have been moved or deleted". Then it disappears in that menu! (no rebooting needed...)
