A teacher brought a CX to me today where the screen has been rotated 180 degrees.  We have tried removing the battery and updating the software.  We have tried to hard reset but never got the nspire to get to the maintenance screen.

Anyone have any ideas of what we can try before we call TI.

Take out the screen and rotate it -180 degrees.

Had the same experience last year.  Very curious - and it started out of the blue, on a calculator the student had used for months without incident.  Gentle Reset, Double-Secret Reset, and Take Out Battery didn't fix it.  We did end up calling TI-Cares and returning the handheld.

Sorry to not have a more optimistic response ...

I did a little searching on Google to see what might be the cause and found this from a couple of years ago:

It seems that this is most likely a hardware issue with the unit.  Perhaps a faulty resistor or one that came loose.  I would love to have a bad unit in my possession to disassemble and track down what the problem actually is since it is most likely something in the hardware.

From what I can find, Michael is on the right trail with contacting TI and getting the unit replaced.

Although perhaps my search was not deep enough.  I found this as steps to at least try:
