Greetings all,

We can Exit from Test-mode by sending <Exit test mode.tns> using navigator. Is there any similar way to put TI-Nspire into Test mode by sending some file?

Secondly We can exit from test mode connecting two devices by unit-unit cable. Should both the handheld be in Test-mode?

Kindly help…Thanx…

Thanks & regards,

When yoi exit using another handheld it's irrelevant if the sender unit is i test mode or not. They may even ve different models. One numeric and one cas.

As for leaving the test mode, there doesn't seem to be anything missing, check your steps, something may have been done wrong

the file has to be sent to a folder called "press-to-test"
other than that, your procedure looks correct.

I guess I haven't thoroughly tested it, but I'm under the impression that this is one of the few times you really need to get capitalization correct.

With the TI-Nspire Navigator or Connect-to-Class, use Transfer Tool (end class if needed) to send "Exit Test Mode.tns" (this can be a blank tns that is called Exit Test Mode) to the Press-to-Test folder.

1. Click ‘Add to Transfer List’ and find Exit Test Mode.tns
2. Click that file, then click the ‘Edit destination Folder’ field
3. Click the ‘Change’ button and then ‘Start Transfer

The next time you do this it is really fast and easy. Choose Transfer Tool, ‘Add to Transfer List’ and you are looking in the same folder that you were in last time. The Exit Test Mode file should be right there. Click the drop down option and select Press-to-Test among the other recent transfer folders. Click the ‘Change’ button and then ‘Start Transfer.’

Sean,

I downloaded the Exit_Test_Mode.tns from education.ti.com but the handheld would NOT exit until the underscores were removed!!
Also, you are right about the capitalization also...spend about an hour before I found this message.

BTW: TI-Cares (at least some) don't know about using the navigator to exit "Press to Test."

Definitely you need to keep it in proper case without underscore sign.

Is some way to disable this feature so that it cannot be mistakenly
activated?

There is no way to disable P2T,  However it is very difficult to activate accidentally - you have to press a particular key combination, then select the appropriate Press-to-test setting before confirming you wish to enter press-to-test - You can cancel right up to this final confirmation...

I've never come across a student who has accidentally ended up in press-to-test.

I was thinking of a student doing it to another student's calculator
as a prank.
